Cool prraxinoscope on Cuba St. @cyclewgtn.bsky.social

Best of luck to all who ride. May the force be with you. www.karapoti.co.nz @cyclewgtn.bsky.social

Wellington cycleways are under attack. I'm surprised to see some Councillors backtracking on safe streets and sustainable transport. Everyone deserves safe streets 24/7. @cyclewgtn.bsky.social www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3605...

An Otago study reveals how the roads lobby dominates NZ transport policy. Karen Hormann, Chair of Bike Auckland makes the case for policy that prioritises people, not the roads lobby. Starts at 15:50. www.rnz.co.nz/national/pro... @cyclingactionnz.bsky.social @bikeauckland.bsky.social

Meet today's everyday bike hero, Sean Barker. Love your style! Thanks Bicycle Junction. @cyclewgtn.bsky.social

If anyone tells you a cycleway is “gold-plated” and it doesn’t look as amazing as Quay St then tell them they’re dreaming. Most Auckland cycling infra isn’t even concrete plated, it’s paint plated.

HOT RESEARCH NEWS! Motonormativity ("car brain") is a bias that stops people making rational judgements about driving en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motonor... Our new study shows where this bias comes from AND how it makes people think they're odd for supporting changes to the transport system 🧵

How do commercial transport lobbyists undermine good health policy in NZ? www.linkedin.com/posts/alice-... @cyclingactionnz.bsky.social

“A new study of early separated lane projects in the U.S. across six cities finds a rise of ridership between 21% and 171% after the lanes were installed.” The pretty strong and convincing case for protected bike-lane networks in cities. In @fastcompany.com

It’s VERY important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against downtown bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of the evidence that they are better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced. Bike-lanes mean business.

A Finnish 🇫🇮 study highlights that commuting by bicycle significantly reduces sickness absence among municipal employees. Active cyclists, covering over 30 km weekly, had an 8–18% lower risk of sickness absences and averaged 4.5 fewer sick days annually than passive commuters.

We all deserve safe roads. When the National Govt cuts cycling funding, communities are forced to take action. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/cyclists-... #CyclingActionNetwork

The case for investing in cycling is compelling. We're all better off when more people bike. Why is the NZ Govt ignoring the evidence? www.tvnz.co.nz/news/news-in... @cyclewgtn.bsky.social
