Yes. It's conceivable that the writer of the first story knew more, and saved it for a front page follow up. What will next week reveal?

Yes. To give them some credit, they provide covered bike parking with solid racks, close to the airport entrance. And they sponsor mountain bike stuff. www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-pos...

Agree. Red weather warning = stay put.
Also, Eastbourne residents and HCC must be pleased that the Govt is building the new sea wall, and got the cycling budget to pay for it.

"The work of Wellington City Council in the short time we’ve been here has been incredible. I hope they are proud of what has been achieved so far."

"On the Chathams I learned to drive when I was 11 and would borrow my mum’s car to set up possum traps." That's how we roll in NZ.

Cycle lanes are saving Welliington from traffic jams and decline. The people who work in growth industries like tech, innovation, and film, expect easy transport choices. Cycle lanes are an essential part of attracting talent. @cyclewgtn.bsky.social

I understand that Woolworths across the street has ~15 carparks reserved for people shopping at Adelaide junction. It's lazy and misguided to blame our popular and successful cycleways for changes in shopping habits. @cyclewgtn.bsky.social

I understand this just covers Christchurch busses.
Nelson also has an exemption. It's taking NZTA far too long to sort out the bike ban on busses around NZ. @CyclingActionNZ

It's bad process for Councillors to redesign a successful project just a few months after completion. The do nothing option would cost zero.

5,196 people cycled in Wellington on Census Day 2023. That's a massive 40 percent up since 2013. Biking is on the up. Thanks @WgtnCC
