Such a lovely shade of mauve.

Thanks. It's always interesting to find out how other areas of television work.

Do you sit down with an editor beside you taking instruction? Or do self-edit an offline, and then hand it over for online/craft editing and dub?

Thinking about it again, I think it might have been 14L12 to achieve those thin black bars top and bottom.

Definitely. That audience interpretation can be helped by the way things are pitched. The NTL audience are expecting a play, rather than a film. I believe the TV play could work today.

There's an audience willing to accept it, National Theatre Live is multi camera television (with more restrictive angles). It's a case of pitching it right. The biggest hurdle to TV production now is the rate of inflation, everything costs too much. Advertising revenue and the TVL aren't keeping up.

You've set me off thinking about how we did that in the olden days. I think in the analogue pres suite we manually set the ARC to 16L12 (i.e. 16:9 video Letterboxed on a 12:9 raster)... 12:9 being another way to express 4:3. In the digital suites GPI23 (I think) did the same thing to the ARCs.

Ahhh, "Clack, clack, clack" from De Wolfe... or was it Bruton?

Thanks Simon, glad you liked it... was fun to think through and make.

It's also currently being used on the Video Nasty trailers in NI. Fits the tone better.
