Although my heart would have preferred we didn’t have to go to penalties 😅 #CelticFC

Really looking forward to putting this on during my last hour of work, getting annoyed about the game again and then even more annoyed about how they probably still won’t sack him

Really want us to get him signed up to a new contract asap

They absolutely are, being able to pull a win out the bag when you’re not at your best is crucial to win titles. Agree the weather made things tough but still think we weren’t as on it as we know these players can be! Absolute credit getting the win though and pleased with the grit shown

Wind for unpredictably with balls in the air, loads of rain for slidey grass for balls on the ground, ideal 😂. Confident we can bring the 3 points down the road 🍀

It’s going to be the longest book I’ve read when I’m done. About 250 pages in now and do think it’ll take me a while to get through

100%, he’s a great wee player. Disappointed Barca weren’t willing to accept an option to buy in the loan. Aye I’d like to see a quality LB come in and for us to sort Taylor’s contract out

Valle has impressed when he’s played and absolutely deserves chances to play. I’ve really enjoyed watching him play. Still part of me that is a wee but frustrated playing loan players who were not going to be getting at the end of the loan

I’ve given up on using the trains to get to and from work. Too many cancellations making you run late in the morning and cause an overcrowded late train home att night. Absolutely shite

I believe what’s been concluded from this research is likely true and definitely think we need more diversity across all aspects of research. Inferring race from the person’s name seems a bit flawed though…

I couldn’t put down “We” by Yevgeny Zamyatin, only about 250 pages.

The quality we have in the squad is brilliant this season. Really big loss for them if Mitov is going to be out too.

..up film plots following on from a made up film plot is ridiculous
comment in response to

Yeah you did and and got a piece of writing that explains how it is not a “true story” but in fact a made up plot for a film with some historical accuracies. Hence why your true story assertion is doing really heaving lifting and also why it’s a mental thing to decide that a franchise of more made..

…would also presumable be taking some historical fact to build the world and using more made up character to tell a made up story with some small nods to actual events. Just like Gladiator
comment in response to

But this isn’t based on a true story. This is taking some aspects of historical fact over a long time frame to portray a reasonably historically accurate civilisation and society. There is no “true story” that is the plot of Gladiator. A franchise would make as much sense as the film did as it…

Did you read that before you sent it? Pretty much just confirms exactly what I pointed out in the thread, so thanks. As I said, loosely based on some events but “true story” is ridiculously heavy lifting. As I said those podcasts are great for learning about Roman history

Historians podcast by Dr Fiona Radford and Dr Peta Greenfield are great for learning about Roman history and I’d recommend them both!

…father’s death
- Commodus did take part in rigged gladiatorial combat but was not killed in a gladiatorial battle
- Commodus’ death resulted in chaos and civil wars, not peace like in the film.
There is more. But yeah, yeah heavy lifting.

…- There’s no evidence Marcus Aurelius wanted to return Rome
to a Republic. He in fact selected his son Commodus to be his successor and they were co-Emperors for 3 years before Aurelius’ death
- The war that Aurelius won in the film he in fact died before it was resolved by Commodus after his…

“Based on a true story” is doing some seriously heavy lifting here. It’s very loosely based on some events that happened in the Roman Empire. Maximus is fictional but shares some similarities to Spartacus. However;
- Marcus Aurelius wasn’t killed by Commodus, he died of the Antonine plague…

I agree and at the minimum would like to see Bernardo start and McCowan coming on for at least 30 mins

He’s such an interesting Emperor to look back on the reign of. Also, horrible for those at the time of course, but he gave us the chaos and insane stories of Commodus’ reign to look back on too

Rise Against have many good albums that would certainly be thought of as “political“. This is a personal favourite

I received advice to read 1-3 then stop there as it gets too silly. I stuck through the boy becomes worn silliness to finish book 3 and I’m glad I stopped there. I did enjoy what I read very much though
