So if I finish a chapter of my new book in Cabot Cove, I can send it through the phone lines to my publisher in New York?

It was a real questions I am mulling over. I know that OANN and weird podcasters would show up to fill the void, but if most journalists focused on exposing corruption through leaks, investigations, and reporting instead of just reacting to staged events, maybe it would demonstrate its illegitimacy?

What if journalists refused to cover official government press briefings, like when the media in South Africa boycotted covering the apartheid government?

Whew that's better than what I first assumed by this post. The $880B cut over 10 years will result in: millions of people forced off Medicaid, more ER visits, higher mortality rates, the closing of rural hospitals and nursing homes, increase in healthcare costs, ~2M lost healthcare jobs.

- There will be massive job losses in healthcare. Healthcare employs ~ 14% of the workforce in the US. We could see the loss of 5 million healthcare workers in a decade. - There will be indirect job losses (support industries, local economies, suppliers).

- Mental health and substance abuse treatment services rely heavily on Medicaid. The opioid epidemic will worsen. - Everyone will experience a delay in accessing care. - This will lead to worse health outcomes and increased mortality rates.

- Services will be discontinued, particularly in mental health, maternity care, and pediatrics. - Medicaid funds 50%–70% of nursing home care, they will close. - Medicaid is a federal-state partnership, states will have to fill funding gaps or cut services and reduce eligibility.

- Costs will be shifted to private insurers. Insurance premiums, copays, and out of pocket costs will rise. - Millions of people could lose coverage, leading to increased ER visits for hospitals that already have trouble meeting the demand.

This is obviously inhumane. I also want to point out what this will do to our healthcare system. - Rural hospitals will close. Medicaid reimbursements makeup ~30% of their revenue. - Costs will be shifted to private insurers. Insurance premiums, copays, and out of pocket costs will rise.

Anyway, I wrote all this already. I'm just still processing that a bunch of replacement-level rats could gnaw through so much of a century of hard-won progress, in just a few weeks. As someone with some residual pride in this country it's mostly just embarrassing. defector.com/billionaire-...

Like, are these people going to be drinking dead bacteria? Doesn't ethanol denature the lipids in the cell walls of bacteria? I guess maybe that's not a problem for whatever ABV this drink is?
