There’s just something about the optimism of the late 60’s and the towering behemoth super computers which weren’t designed purely for function, but were also works of art in themselves. A dream of mine is to one day own a CRAY super computer, a man can dream!

This is one of my all time favorite photographs. Awesome to see one of my new favorite artists recreate it!

Looking at the small snippets of S2 that they released. We were truly robbed.

Seeing someone who worked on HL2 take a picture next to Skibidi Toilet is I think the best think I’ve ever seen on the internet.

That’s the biggest issue I had with Doom eternal. It felt like a completely different game, and not just artistically. I found having to track 3 different grenade types and multiple different weapon varieties all while trying to keep on top of ammo spend to be too draining on me.
comment in response to post
Another thing that feels straight from Half-Life is the weapon variety, and discovering new weapons as the game progresses. Many games these days just let you carry 1 or 2 weapons at a time with little variety.

There is no way the Devs didn’t take direct inspiration from Black Mesa while making DOOM 2016. Even some of the above ground sections remind me a tiny bit of New Mexico :)

This is an improvement, nobody likes that guy.

Looks like epic hired imitators to train the AI, and that’s the ground that Sag Aftra are using to back up their argument.

DOOM 2016 is the best DOOM game. But maybe I’m only saying that because it feels like an homage to the original Half-Life.

I remember reading a TIME or WIRED magazine of the era as a kid. It went into detail as to the cause of the RED RING and it was probably the article that got me interested in tech hardware.

What gods to we have to pray to for the ability to stock these on our store? 🙃

This is giving me the same vibe as Sony re-releasing Morbius in Cinemas.

I imagine a large number of tablet devices are miss labeled as “mobile devices” by YouTube statistics.

Exactly. The markets nearly a decade old now. The used market is full of cheap pre-owned but good condition devices. Many of which probably only have a dozen hours of use or less!

I kinda think the head crabs are cute in this game NGL.

Honestly, the can’t afford it argument is so played out at this stage. You can pick up a pre-owned HTC Vive on marketplace for like $200 USD these days. Not saying that everyone can afford that, but a pretty large number of people should.

This looks absolutely stunning. Strong Half-Life: Alyx vibes in the best of ways! Almost makes me wish I could play it in VR!

Fairly sure most modern operating systems have defrag as a core function of the OS so it handles it in the background. These days most PC’s boot off of SSD’s which don’t really need defragging anyway. Although knowing Windows I’m sure the defrag tool is still there if you’re feeling nostalgic.

Why is this so well photoshopped

POV, you’re just about to kill the resistance leader and then you see he’s got two daughters all of a sudden.

Not to mention the whole rocket silo! Gave me flashbacks to riding the Black Mesa train up the elevator to reach the top of the launch silo.

I have played all the Half-Life games, including Ep2 over 10 times in the past decade. However for some reason I’ve only played through this specific section twice in my whole life. Seemingly every time I played EP2 in the past I stopped after reaching White Forest.
comment in response to post
I replayed this section for the first time in almost 10 years the other day. I absolutely love this level and all the callbacks it has to Half-Life 1. Really felt like I was back fighting the HECU in Black Mesa.

In my opinion this is not just the greatest VR game ever made. But the greatest game… PERIOD. I absolutely can’t wait to see what Valve does, flatscreen or otherwise. Although I do hope we get to see more VR stuff from them in the future.
