We've got a doozy a lineup for games at this year's 72-hour Anniversary Livestream. A spread of games ranging from members of our community to well-beloved indie darlings. Plus, the 4am-8am block has unofficially-officially been dubbed the Goblin Hour. We look forward to having you join us. #ttrpg

Attention analog game studies folk!

A vision of the 90s: James Cameron’s Vision for Wellington event, reviewed

If you played TTRPGs between 1970-2004, PhD Candidate Geoffrey Ramirez (Binghamton U) is seeking participants for “Character Creation: The Tabletop Role-Players Oral History Project” as part of his dissertation. Interviews will be archived at the Strong Museum of Play (can be time-locked, etc)

BBC just released damning research on AI assistants' news accuracy. Results: 51% of AI responses had significant issues. 19% introduced errors when citing BBC. 13% misquoted or made up BBC content entirely. 🤐🤐 www.bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/... via @ezraeeman.bsky.social

Memo to journalists: There's a high likelihood the thing you are writing about does not "raise concerns" about something bad happening -- it is in fact the bad thing happening. Reevaluate your language and maybe your entire approach to the story. Tell the whole truth.

The Critics Have Spoken

I just read Realis cover to cover in one sitting, a thing I seldom do with game documents that are over 100 pages. Not only is it excellent in its own right as a ludic and a lyric experience, but it sparked a large number of ideas for a couple of my own games.

On Kickstarter now, @jburneko.itch.io's latest zine, Love Songs of the Death Goddess, puts into practice a lot of his advice from his excellent Dungeons and Dilemmas and Unchained Mysteries. Love Songs of the Death Goddess. www.kickstarter.com/projects/jbu...

It's Book Day! Amanda Potter and I ran an international virtual conference on #Xena: Warrior Princess in the early days of COVID, which eventually turned into a glorious edited volume! 1/4 www.bloomsbury.com/us/classical...

Welcome to Canberra, #ASCS2025 folk! Although the only thing Canberra about this photo is the location and the BentSpoke coaster.

Addendum (and then I'll shut up about this, I promise). The battle over "common sense"—what it entails and who gets to define it—is not a trivial matter. It is *the* ideological battle of our age. The *political* importance of how we see and make sense of the world cannot be overstated. 1/4

As well as the works themselves, the staging and display of this exhibition is great!

If I just followed you, it's likely that I did so by way of @andrewconnor.bsky.social's Roman History starter pack: go.bsky.app/FRyw2gA If you're a Roman historian like me, or if you're just into the social media takes of Roman historians, you might want to check this list out!

It's really this simple.

This is a beautiful tribute.

wrote a farewell to my, our, beloved David Lynch: about getting "fix your hearts or die" tattooed, the legions of queer and trans art his work has since enabled, and losing his genius in part to the ecological decline caused by the human hubris his work obsessed over. @them.us

Judas Priest is pretty good you guys.

One of the reasons David Lynch's work meant so much to me is that he promised that no matter how ordinary-seeming the space you occupy, you contain an unmeasurable quantity of weirdness that deserves expression. I am promising myself that from here on out, I will try to write even weirder.

This interview with David Lynch from last year was an absolute delight while offering insights to him & his work. Highly recommended from the auteur. www.npr.org/2024/06/13/1...

Note: they tried to reassure me they weren't "selling them off" But like. Quietly giving them away to for profit trusts is basically the same fucking thing. They think we're stupid. Someone should probably do a story about this. Tag journalists please.

I'll slip these Lynch tribute games into my bag for #Kapcon.

One of my fav hidden gems too! I played an ER PA moonlighting as a second story guy. An artist gigged us to burn down the art gallery showing his stuff, because he got wind that his buyers weren't art lovers, just money launderers. Fun, fun game!
