I agree, but unless you're a donor, I don't believe reps care about the thoughts of those outside their district. Speaking of which, I haven't done the homework, but I suspect this is due to the demographics of their districts.

Again: the point is not that he has crackpot opinions. It’s his insistence that he knows best—that he can cite some one-off or discredited study to impose his views. It’s not his job to decide science. Science is a mass endeavor of thousands of scientists assessing many, many studies.
