Alberta as we know it today simply would not exist without the millions of immigrants and refugees who built it, who loved it, and who were proud to call it home - including my grandparents and my mum. This bitter xenophobia is as unAlbertan as it’s possible to be. I’m ashamed. I’m disgusted.

Um, that’s not how constitutional amendments work

ICYMI, new op-ed from @jacobdawang.com: rolling back zoning reforms would be a mistake. "That means more people priced out of mature neighbourhoods, gatekeeping Edmonton’s best neighbourhoods so that rowhouses look like single-family homes." Read more 👇 edmontonjournal.com/opinion/colu... #yegcc

Whoa.

This is entirely the UCP's making. Don't let the premier tell you the buck stops elsewhere.

“From 1981 to 2015, there were an average of 18 smoke hours per year in the city of Calgary. No year had over 100. Now we see hundreds of smoke hours routinely: 315 in 2017, 450 in 2018, 439 in 2021, 512 in 2023, and 2024 was ‘only’ 200.”

Every cyclist knows exactly how that cow feels. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

It makes me feel old reading people describe those kiosk locations like they are some ancient mystery from the past.

Live every day like it’s Bike to Work Day.

There is an ethics crisis in the Alberta government.

#SeparatistSmith and the UCP are having the tiiimeee of their liiives 🎶

Wolverine populations in Alberta are low enough that they could be listed as a threatened species. Instead, Minister Loewen removed the limit on trapping them. Please contact the Minister's office to share your concerns about this: [email protected] (and cc our office too!). #abpoli

Early exit polls suggest the new pope did particularly well with male voters aged 45-79.

Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney was born in the NWT and raised in Edmonton. He launched his leadership bid in Alberta. Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre was born and raised in Calgary. He’s a U of C grad. NDP interim leader Don Davies was born and raised in Edmonton. He’s a U of A grad.

Growing western alienation is a tantalizing storyline and it gets clicks and eyeballs, I'm sure, but it is not borne out by the facts. Alberta-first identity is on the decline, not increase.

A Premier being this dishonest is disturbing.

After relaxing ethics rules and ignoring calls for a public inquiry into alleged corruption, the UCP is making it even easier to pay to play. thetyee.ca/Analysis/202...

A government under seven (7) different investigations for corruption just introduced a bill that would bring more corporate money into politics. This is not normal. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

The typical Canadian has a higher standard of living than the typical American. We are healthier, live 3 years longer, face much less inequality and are happier. These outcomes are not accidents. They reflect deliberate policy choices.” @jimbostanford.bsky.social on Canada’s GDP per capita:

It would be really nice if one of these big news stories platforming Alberta separatists would mention that the separatist party founded by the Wexit people in 2020 was dissolved in February 2025 because they were too disorganized to properly file their financial returns with Elections Canada.

Liberal candidate Corey Hogan is framing the federal election as Mark Carney vs Danielle Smith in Calgary Confederation, which many political watchers believe is a close Lib-Cons race. Conservative candidate Jeremy Nixon is a former UCP MLA and currently runs the UCP Caucus office in Calgary.

Advance votes cast by federal riding in Calgary. Northwest ridings saw the most ballots cast in advance, followed by southwest ridings. Ridings on the east side of the city tended to see fewer people vote in advance.

This is not about bike lanes, this is about distracting Albertans from the Corruptcare scandal. Stay focused. Call a public inquiry. Reach out to me and let’s talk about what we can do together. #ableg

Hopefully the City of Calgary will take a cue from Edmonton. We have a handful of great sections of cycling infrastructure, but the city has been slow to connect them. Until that happens even the good parts will be underutilized.

By Evan Dyer CBC. This is highly problematic.

This is my riding. With no incumbent and the current polling, I think this is only the 2nd time I'll be voting in a federal election in Calgary that appears to be competitive.

SCOOP: Health Minister Adriana LaGrange dismissed the AHS board the same day the organization was scheduled to receive a report examining whether some of its contracts were subject to "improper activity," according to docs. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber... w @alannasmith.bsky.social

ULEZ works. It’s that simple. Expanding the Ultra Low Emission Zone wasn’t a decision I took lightly, but the latest figures show that it was the right one for the health of millions of Londoners.

Actual work has started on a suburb in Utrecht that will have space for 12,000 residents, three schools, two supermarkets, offices, restaurants and a gym – but no cars. www.dutchnews.nl/2025/03/work...

Freedom of reach is the real battle in social media right now. Algorithmic feeds vs. deterministic timelines isn't just UX - it's about whether platforms or users control what gets seen. And these choices fundamentally reshape online communities. 1/6

"Do I believe Danielle Smith interfered with Alberta Health, and on behalf of her own staff in an attempt to cover for her staff’s wrongdoing? One hundred per cent." #ableg #abpoli

SCOOP - A big payout for Sam Mraiche and major embarrassment for Infrastructure Minister Peter Guthrie, who called for the health minister to step down last week. Mraiche Profited from Quick Sale of Property to UCP Government via @thetyee.ca thetyee.ca/News/2025/02...

SIGNAL BOOST: I just got in and there is a lot of ice forming. Super sketchy everywhere. Be careful tomorrow AM. #yycbike

Imagine one of your employees accused another of funneling half a billion of your dollars to their friends. Imagine the accused told you not to worry. They're looking into it for you. That's where we are in Alberta. The premier and her staff are telling taxpayers to let them handle it.

One question, one follow-up was a COVID invention. We couldn't scrum properly, so that's how govt ran phone press conferences. Now govt uses it to limit reporters' ability to press officials. It is govt control over media. That's why I don't like the mic system. Bring back proper scrums.

SCOOP: AB Health Minister Adriana LaGrange stripped Alberta Health Services of power to negotiate after its then-CEO allegedly refused to sign pricey deals www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber... #abpoli #ableg

Look for the UCP to crank up the dial to 11 tomorrow on another totally unrelated issue to distract from Carrie Tait’s bombshell corruption story. 💣

Meanwhile, in southern Alberta… It appears the MLA who promised that there would be no coal mines doesn’t like people asking why the UCP have done a 180. Accountability is just the woooooorst. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

There's never been a better time to ...

“Calgary is being held hostage on our own project,” Coun. Mian said. The Green Line approval was the last straw for Mian, who told fellow councillors she wouldn't be running for re-election because of this decision. #yyc #yyccc #calgary

It’s been 6 months since the Jasper wildfire & residents of Jasper are forced to gather in the cold to call for help with housing. This is a failure of the UCP who are more interested in fighting with the federal government & Town of Jasper than getting a win for the community. #abpoli

This is a stunning development! Apparently the AI center wasn’t O’Leary’s idea it was Smith’s. AND she promised him permits. This is next level bad if true. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

It has been 10 years since many Education Assistants have received a wage increase in this province. Their average annual salary? $34,000. These workers deserve livable wages. We rely on them to provide our kids with equitable education - EAs are essential for the success of students.
