I'll be down to visit today. Lots of good people to catch up with.

Same here. It's probably closer to me as I'm right on the N. Hants border but I don't usually go for a particular bird more than ten miles away.
It was a fantastic couple of hours on the Common.

Did you get to see it?

I tend to agree but the notable exceptions include All Along The Watchtower...
Beyoncé's Blackbird cover isn't in that league but I found it very moving to hear her sing it, given McCartney's inspiration for writing it.

I first visited Slimbridge in the Seventies, when I was a teenage voluntary warden at Welney WWT. The Welney warden, Josh Scott, took a bunch of us in his car for a weekend at Slimbridge. Sir Peter Scott showed us around the offices, collections and his studio. Inspirational trip.

#BeatlesAtoZ ‘B’
Blackbird (McCartney for Lennon & McCartney) is one of my all time fave songs from The Beatles/White Album and sides 1&2 are probably my most-played #Beatles record. Recorded solo by Paul and inspired by the Black civil rights movement in the southern US. #TheBeatles

An admirable task to set yourself. This was the first music I fell in love with. They created a musical world for others to inhabit.

This one's an absolute masterpiece. I also rather like Beyoncé's recent cover version on her grammy-winning album 'Cowboy Carter'.

Not through the publisher's website but I can arrange international postage direct if someone overseas wants one. I'm posting one to Michigan today, (which seems like a dream to me now).

A musical genius. Did you know his One World album was recorded next to one of the lakes near Theale? You can even hear our local geese on the final track, 'Small Hours'. I loved that album as a teenager and now I love that lake!

Mine, all in Berkshire:
1. Hawfinch in a local churchyard
2. Showing my bird group 6 Goldeneye on a local gravel pit
3. ...and 3 Oystercatchers (exciting for a landlocked County)
4. Greenfinches calling outside the house
5. House Sparrows chirping in holly bushes around the village.

Two trips to the Hampshire coast this week produced lots of excellent birds. Top 5:
1. Red-necked Grebe off Hythe Pier from Weston Shore
2. Male Long-tailed Duck off Weston Shore
3. Great Northern Diver off Netley
4. Sandwich Tern at Warsash
5. Two Kingfishers flying-by at Bunny Meadows

Nice to see. I managed to connect with it yesterday and the RNG and GND too but couldn't find the Black-throated Diver which has been around.

This appears to be a Middle Spotted Woodpecker, judging by the large white patches on its back, the red crown and white face.

That's a mystery, not sure what the liquid trail is but most likely the bird was stunned and has quickly recovered and flown off.

Dipped on the Shore Larks, Snow Buntings, Long-billed Dowitcher, Lesser Scaup and Green-winged Teal but still managed to find 86 species, despite the very blustery weather.

I only ever see them when I visit my Mum in the Fens, where I used to take them for granted, completely. I know they're still holding on in other areas but where I live, in Berkshire, they are extinct as a County breeder and hardly ever occur. They have such beautiful markings and colours.

I'm visiting Holkham tomorrow. Hope they stay where they're supposed to.
