Two Republican-held districts have the most Coloradans on Medicaid. This same story is playing out across the country. TRANSLATION: Trump voters chose hate—and forgot they rely on Medicaid. Oops.

Long but excellent thread explaining the congressional budget process and places where draconian cuts might be stopped 🛑.

Again, I’m not necessarily saying that the U.S. is becoming—functionally speaking—a Russian client state, but if we were, what would our federal leaders be doing differently? 🤔

We need a serious, coordinated, disciplined democracy movement here in the United States, led by civil society organizations, labor unions, non-shady PACs,etc. It needs some kind of umbrella governance to coordinate and time actions for maximum impact (marches, boycotts, a general strike, etc.).

If the Democrats bail out Mike Johnson on ANY spending bill, they deserve the utter political destruction coming their way. Some are already falling for the "but we'll get blamed for shutting down the government" b.s. Have you learned NOTHING? Not. One. Vote.

One way for news outlets to respond would be an immediate TV ban on airtime for all administration officials.

Unreal 🙄. Glad I don’t watch MSNBC.

@rbreich.bsky.social gets to the point quickly here. Trump is working to consolidate the instruments of state violence under his personal leadership. Linked to this is the regime’s apparent preparation to defy the courts as a whole. “The essence of tyranny.” open.substack.com/pub/robertre...

Dems talking themselves into validating Trump/Musk attacks on the Constitution by voting for Republicans' budget out of fear Dems will take the blame if a GOP trifecta fails to pass it, and guessing that this is what swing voters will have front of mind 20 months later, would be utterly pathetic.

This article precedes Trumps inauguration, but has it right, I think. Many Dems have already screwed up, but it’s not too late to right the ship. “The tendency of some Democrats to seek common ground is a habit that they must begin to unlearn as they face the prospect of a second Trump term.”

This👇. History may not repeat, but it often rhymes. Don’t buy right-wing denial or dismissal; they are the ideological heirs to confederates and segregationists.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

From my “Songs for Interesting Times” playlist, “Exhuming McCarthy,” by the legendary R.E.M., a protest against Reagan-era extremism. Oh how painfully relevant the song remains. youtu.be/Az5dzXRRh4E?...

The "Muskification" of Facebook continues apace. Gross.

Keep pushing, everyone. Reality is beginning to set in. And as Ezra Klein said about Trump, "don't believe him."

I'm in. Let's show our power, people. www.usatoday.com/story/money/...

THIS 👇. Democracy has a right to defend itself.

Yes please 🤣👏🤞🤞🤞.

Don’t make me tap the sign again…

Freeing the January 6 insurrectionists was and is the open promotion of terrorist violence. Nothing less.

In less than 2 months, the United States has become a security threat to its traditional democratic allies.

It’s reasonably clear that the motivation behind these actions is to make sure the military is loyal to the regime and not the constitution, as well as willing to commit atrocities against the U.S. population. Anyone who cares about constitutionality and rule of law should be deeply disturbed.

What Just Happened: Musk-OPM Send Email to Federal Employees Asking for Five Accomplishments Analysis by Professor Nicholas Bednar (@nicholasbednar.bsky.social) Bottom line up front: The threat of termination by implied resignation is legally invalid.

Disturbing developments in the military arena. The Trump regime appears to be preparing to commit major violence against the U.S. population. @hcrichardson.bsky.social explains: heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/february-2...

🕰️ 😂 🤣😭🤦‍♂️

DOGE is like if Fyre Festival was a government agency.

Trumpism still needs lies about “election fraud” so they can refuse to accept the results of the 2026 elections if Republicans lose big. They’re laying the groundwork to refuse to seat newly-elected Democrats. Autocracy at work.

I have to wonder what Putin has promised Trump-Musk-Vance or, alternately, what he has on them...? They're definitely the best foreign policy team the Russian president could ask for. Who needs Sergey Lavrov with them around?
