Abstract submissions are now open for the fMRS symposium in Bangor, Wales, Sept 2025 : shorturl.at/Q1A5p come present your latest functional MR spectroscopy neuroscientific findings, method development or anything else related to fMRS.

For Brian Wilson, who has gone to see what's next. This song, which he wrote as a "teenager's symphony to God", here covered by just about everyone, including Brian himself: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqLT...

Did they ever use the most important device in the Universe in "The Expanse"? I fail to see how anything could work if they didn't...

From #TheExpanse and #Picard this lamp certainly gets around! 1975-ish in MA. This old #Trekkie and #Screamingfirehawks

🚨 New paper out! Presurgical brain dynamics (resting-state fMRI) predict short-term cognitive deficits after glioma surgery. Most recover by 3 months — deficits are transient and manageable. 🧠 Huge thanks to my PhD mentor Jorge Jovicich! 📄 Read here: link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Some days you just need to make some bread. Sourdough loaf, smells as good as it looks.

Man, the bots are out in force on threads today.

I love this view of Bangor University and one edge of the Menai Straight, especially when the sun is shining like it is today. Come and join us at the joint fMRS and Edited MRS symposium in September to see for yourself! pgmm03.uk/functional-m... pgmm03.uk/edited-spect...

I have had a great trip to Amsterdam, visiting Anouk Schrantee, and examining their PhD Student, now Dr, Daphne Boucherie. An excellent thesis, including phamarcologic MRS and MRI.

Amsterdam really knows how to get around by bike.

Saturday is a rugby day! Playing mixed ability rugby is great fun. If you are an ex player, looking for a way to get back into rugby, look to see if there is a Mixed Ability team in your area. A great way to get fit again.

The second fMRS symposium (Sept 2025) is now open for early registration and abstract submission. Hosted at Bangor Uni, situated in beautiful north Wales, not to be missed if you're into measuring dynamic neurophysiology/neurotransmitters and cutting-edge MR spectroscopy methods. shorturl.at/Q1A5p

I really hate being sick on the weekend, especially when it's sunny out.

WORLD-FIRST: Ground-breaking research published today in the Ornithologist Journal has, for the first time, translated common UK bird vocalisations into equivalent phrases in the human language. The results tell us a lot! Extracts below... 🧵

Well, one more game of rugby under the belt. That one was harder then the last one, but I still feel I was able to make a contribution in the pitch.

Happy to have been involved with this really cool paper, and a new way to investigate fMRS data from Maria Morelli and Martin Wilson. With @martinw3141.bsky.social, @kdudzikowska.bsky.social, @ajquinn.bsky.social, and @brainapps.bsky.social

Proud to have our first fMRS study from @thechbh.bsky.social published with Maria, @kdudzikowska.bsky.social, Dinesh, @ajquinn.bsky.social, @pgmm03.bsky.social, @brainapps.bsky.social :) Looking forward to making further developments towards fMRS becoming a popular tool for measuring brain activity.

embrace boring. 🧵
