Trump loves oligarchs and believes the powerful should get to do what they want. You can read more into it if you like but he fundamentally believes in a universe where bullying is good and correct and if the bullied wanted it to be different they should strong enough to bully instead.

please call this what it is, which is government-sanctioned abuse, rape and murder

Shared with alt text best I could @marisakabas.bsky.social post reading BREAKING, States' attorneys general lead by NY State AG were just granted preliminary injunction in their case against DOGE. Team cannot access Treasury Department payment systems or data while the lawsuit proceeds. Major.

Yikes. Elon's friend's description of Elon's mindset about his role in the world.

“We had to erase trans people or we couldn’t get our federal funding” Fuck the federal funding. You fight, you sue, you do not become complicit in our mass erasure. We are all in this together, and we all go down together. I will not allow us to be jettisoned or erased.

Gov. Mills: I’ll comply with the state and federal laws Trump: We are the federal law. You better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funds. Gov Mills: See you in court

We can overwhelm them. We outnumber them.

I think a lot of those guys aren’t nazis — I think they just believe all the same stuff and have the same goals and act the same way and do the same salutes. But I could see how you could make that mistake.

"a provocative gesture that resembled the salute Elon musk gave" U.S. journalism is full of fucking gooey brained invertebrates

"NO KINGS BUT DRAG KINGS."

"[M]ore than $39 million has been earmarked to DOGE in the Trump administration’s first month. For perspective, in recent years Congress had allocated around $50 million a year for the IT modernization initiative that DOGE supplanted, budget records show." www.propublica.org/article/doge...

Oh god, I've done a Trump clown/burlesque act, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to do an Elon Musk one now. I may not be able to help myself.

Given his new position and influence, at this point Musk’s moderation decisions at X are far closer to actual censorship than anything in the “Twitter Files.”

BREAKING: Nonprofits sue over Trump's anti-diversity, anti-trans executive orders, alleging they violate the First Amendment & equal protection guarantees, are void for vagueness, exceed the president's authority, & violate the Administrative Procedure Act. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

BREAKING: Another win for the lawyers protecting birthright citizenship. A 9th Cir. panel -- the first circuit to weigh-in in these cases -- denies the Trump admin's emergency request to let the EO rescinding birthright citizenship go into effect, saying the admin is unlikely to win on the merits🧵

when i was on an advisory committee to the city council, i was taught that getting a coffee with someone who had a matter before the council could be seen as a conflict of interest

if you're gonna complain about a bad liberal take please make it something disgusting they said about gaza and not that they called the president "drumpf" or whatever.

This is like saying parents saved money by not feeding their kids as much and skipping doctors’ appointments. People were actually using the services he’s killed off, among them veterans.

IDK, maybe by April, planes won't be flying at all.

One of my senators, Rick Scott, sends emails saying he's "fighting every day to support" DOGE "mission." That they're "ushering in America's golden age." That DOGE is "doing exactly what the American people want and expect." Bleak. Refers to himself as a "founding member of the Senate DOGE Caucus."

I understand why these stories exist but it’s important to be clear that he’s not “saving” 16 billion, he’s choosing, personally, without oversight, to wipe out 16 billion dollars of government services to veterans and the disabled and food safety etc etc

Impoundment, separation of powers, administrative procedure. US Conference of Catholic Bishops seems especially pissed off about the money they've already spent and that the federal government is now refusing to reimburse.

Sharing with alt text Kyle Cheney's post about an exchange about animus during the court hearing on transgender members of the military.

It's scary right now in federal gov. If you were forced out, or if the exit sign is growing larger by the day, or if you were planning to go in house but that doesn't look like a good idea anymore, my org is hiring. We work on implementing public benefits, and we have stable non-federal funding.

if we can be denied our identity are you sure you have yours

“no no you don’t understand, the agencies throwing trans people under the bus to keep their federal funding aren’t bad guys, they’re just following orders”

Prince and Princess of Pounce in the house

On the left: President Trump: "I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk ... will lead the Department of Government Efficiency ('DOGE")" On the right: Government declaration (by Joshua Fisher) submitted to Judge Chutkan stating Elon Musk is not the leader of DOGE

democrats won’t admit it, but my family’s economic outlook has gotten a LOT better since Trump took office. but what do i know? i don’t have a fancy economics degree, i’m just a regular guy who runs an airplane scrapyard

Regular people who are not scared of flying are talking about canceling flights or not flying. It's interfering with the mental preparation I, a terrified flyer, usually do before flying. But these tickets in April are nonrefundable. Are people just talking shit or are they really not gonna fly?

If I die on my flights in April, I'm gonna haunt the shit out of Elon Musk.

the plan? we fire hundreds of USDA employees during a bird flu outbreak that's causing the highest egg prices in US history

“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”

A grim scene this afternoon as Emil Bove faced down lawyers from DOJ’s Public Integrity Section. One said it was “not anything any of us ever expected to see in America.” www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

In other words: the richest man on Earth, who owns a space technology company, is slashing the US government’s space program — with no electoral mandate to do so
