What size is the Muslim population and what evidence do you have that they are supportive of him personally vs supporting the D over the R? Need a lot of evidence to justifying transposing criticism of an elected representative onto their electorate, otherwise it’s just a slimy trick!

If you have access to information which has escaped the notice of international bodies, investigative journalists, financial institutions, investors, foreign governments etc shouldn’t you be a billionaire?

There are fairly hard limits on what the apparatus of US parties can do to obstruct a faction they oppose though. jwmason.org/slackwire/po...

He has utterly remade American politics, undermined the rule of law, and dismantled vast swathes of the administrative state and public knowledge economy… The idea that this is a four year thing you can just hold your nose for and vote out at the end is honestly beyond delusional at this point!

I like the tacit admission that the idea that giving every cop a mad max vehicle and access to the armoury from the matrix has made them in any way more effective is bullshit

It’s so messed up to hold the fact he became a citizen in 2018 against him. He clearly only did it for optics and holds the great Satan in as much contempt as all right-thinking people.

Imagine being so committed to your anti-liberal latte sipping elite shtick that you drink instant coffee in the year of our lord 2025. Kind of impressive.

Me looking at a period in which the CIA was overthrowing elected governments in Latin America because they upset the United Fruit Company: damn, I long for those days when corporate interests were cowed!!

Ah but it’s different at the national level. Looking at the top national teams you can’t help being struck by their homogeneity

Why Mr Nextlander, the exquisite quality of your content, such as [example of content] makes me confident that you have carefully cultivated an audience of only the most discerning perverts

Happily it’s one of those things that’s on the books but not enforced, and it has been declared as incompatible with human rights legislation. So assuming nobody repeals that legislation, and that norms and conventions are enough to stop reactionaries, there’s nothing at all to worry about!

Also you don’t have to figure out what you think about every candidate in RCV any more than you do in FPTP, you can just stop ranking where your preferences end, even if that’s after one. I don’t think this author was a good pick for this piece, unless muddying the water was the point!

Will take your word for it, but don’t know that this holds up to scrutiny.

It’s disgraceful that marching practice was cut from bootcamp back in Obama’s first term to make time for bell hooks reading groups

Much less access to credit in China, so more households with an even slightly positive net wealth, compared to mortgages and student loans and consumer debt in the USA lowering avg I’d guess. China has a high saving rate too, due to culture and a pretty threadbare/fragmented social security system.

No doubt, but we’re only talking a couple million in a population of 80m+.

It’s worth noting that the unhinged pro-Israel sentiment in Germany is mostly a fixation of the political class. Net favourability amongst the population at large isn’t far off European neighbours. bsky.app/profile/youg...

Sorry but believing yourself to simultaneously be pro-Palestine and pro-NATO in actual fact means being pro-incoherence

It literally *is* Coppola’s assertion, in full, so yes, I’m quite aware that it doesn’t “disprove” itself!

I find that the small words under the big words can sometimes add a degree of nuance. He’s just referring to the idea that it’s impossible to depict war in a way that can’t be construed as pro-war.

Somewhere there is an NYU liberal arts major who touched an idol at the same time as Bill Kristol who is now telling their polycule why we need to get troops back in afghanistan
