I live in New England where nothing is flat and an endless flat expanse is terrifying for me. I feel so exposed or something. Also, places without trees are unnerving for me (aside from deserts, which is understandable).

"You're not my boss and I do not have to justify my work to you." is what employees should respond with.

Bingo!

So, ultimately forcing people into trades that will get replaced by AI, probably. How is that a better "ROI for society"?

Hiding his incompetence? Nah, it's in plain view.

In a social media post Trump said, "He is a fine gentleman and an outstanding leader, and I wish a great future for him and his family." If he's an outstanding leader then he couldn't have been fired for performance reasons.I hope that post is used as evidence in the future court case.

How can they possibly see us when they just erased us? Cowards.

The difference is Ross is white. The drug traffickers he's talking about murdering likely are not.

They gave KY FEMA aid right after their storm, I noticed. If CA withheld taxes I'm pretty sure it would lead to the collapse of a number of red states. I'm here for that.

I think "queer tolerant not queer inclusive" describes most of the US, including the progressive states. Based on my experience.

True, what a weird mistake. I realize 360 is a circle 🤣.

Looks like someone is about to get a promotion. These guys never face consequences.

Oh yeah, their only principle is cruelty. Everything else is just, "whatever our dear leader wants". Most of the time, that is also cruelty.
comment in response to post
If the right does that much of a 360 on the 2A, I don't know. I think my head will explode.
comment in response to post
They love to project, that much is obvious. Sooo, does that mean they're coming for the 2A next? Lol. I'd love to see it!

It's especially weird to hear it from people who are otherwise seemingly compassionate and progressive leaning.

I have several friends & coworkers who are legal immigrants. All are FOR deporting illegal immigrants. Some people who got where they are don't want others to come in behind them, especially if they had a perceived easier time doing so. Anyway, I was disappointed to learn this fact.

I want to add my favorite, ZLib. en.z-lib.gs. There is also a mobile app floating around somewhere.

Also the Postal Service Act of 1792.

That is what we call "planned inefficiencies". Only a super smart person would think to plan those in advance.

Anyways yeah, much of the population lives in blissful unknown unknowns land.
comment in response to post
This reminds me of Rumsfeld's "known unknowns" speech. "[...] there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don't know we don't know."

I don't think they even need to change any laws when he can just ignore the current ones. Who will remove him, the US Marshalls under Executive Dept authority? Yeah, right.

Right, like with housing. The fact that a new home is prohibitively expensive for many & there isn't enough affordable housing & so we have a crisis with homelessness. We look away and/or criminalize those who can't afford a home/rent. Elon could afford to house them all & have money left over.

And really they are the same thing. Killing is a means to an end for a serial killer or mass murderer, the end is power. Money is that means to power for billionaires.

I watched that in hopes I would see him embed that chainsaw in his torso. By the description of his behavior there, I'm surprised that he didn't!

Tear gas, how amusing. I put 3-Quinuclidinyl benzilate in my rounds. Enjoy your psychotic delerium for the next few days!
comment in response to post
As a society, we need to start seeing them as evil on par with a mass murderer. The problem is that, as a society, we've bought into the American Dream which is to BECOME one of those billionaires. Convincing people may require offering a new, and somehow more appealing, American Dream.

Ketamine causes pupilary constriction. Those stage lights probably feel like they're burning his eyes out of his head. Speaking from experience.

Also, he's so smart and yet he tweets like he's a 12 year old edgelord. I realize that its meant to appeal to people who are not smart enough to know they're being played but, still...

Does the restraining order indicate how they will be restrained? By the neck, or what?

I don't know, if someone walked up to me randomly and offered to pay my rent for a month, I might say yes. The difference here is they will attach some sort of strings to these payments. Like, the rich get huge tax cuts and the plebes get $5,000.

The Senate just challenged us with a question: what could possibly go wrong?

I find it interesting that he announced this not long after the Senate confirmed Kash Patel as the head of the DOJ.

Clarification: Ed Martin has 3 higher ed degrees and yet does not understand what a metaphor is. Unless Ed is suggesting there was a literal bar fight going down at the Capital.

It's just going to encourage people to make fraudulent reports of waste. Also sending people free money will make inflation worse. They are absolute idiots.

This. When I left Meta I lost the ability to see what events are happening in my area. All the local groups are all on Facebook and they don't appear to post the event info anywhere else. This is a big problem for me as a trans woman, I have no means of finding events and groups for people like me.

Loved the books. I'm curious to see if they've kept the humor as is or changed/removed it. I read those books as comedy, personally

Starting your argument from the premise that the U.S. is inherently bigoted is wild. That could lead to a lot of awful conclusions.
