Trump, Vance & others either have forgotten or never knew that Zelensky signed a ceasefire agreement with Putin in 2019. Three years later, Putin launched his full-scale invasion. So, signing another ceasefire with no security guarantees feels like suicide for Ukrainians.

Executive orders are not laws. Letter to santa. Note from tooth fairy. Egg from Easter bunny. Not law

NEW: Senator Marshall (R-KS) RUNS AWAY, fleeing his own town hall after being asked about DOGE firing Veterans. MAKE HIM GO VIRAL.

HEY EVERYONE REMEMBER WHEN TRUMP WAS IMPEACHED FOR DENYING AID TO UKRAINE BECAUSE HE WANTED ZELENSKY TO LIE AND SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT BIDEN AND ZELENKSY WOULDN’T DO IT? Maybe literally one fucking American newspapers could mention this in their, “think pieces,” about what happened yesterday.

I want each and every European head of state, foreign and defense minister, on this platform. What the [redacted] are they still doing at X, supporting fascist Musk and his ruz agenda? @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu @kajakallas.bsky.social @donald-tusk.bsky.social @ec.europa.eu

What we learned yesterday: nothing we didn’t know, if we were paying attention. What we’ll learn this weekend: whether European leaders have been paying attention. (A 🧵) /1

Trump’s desire to be seen as the one to “broker peace” comes at all costs, even if that includes the mineral deal. For me, that was the key source of the tension in yesterday’s Oval Office debacle

We’ll be able to trace it all to this disgraceful moment, this day of historic shame for the United States. We’ve changed teams.

If anyone wants to learn more about #Zelenskyy, one of the best ways to do so is to watch him speak. His body language and vocal tone convey volumes more than just text. I have subtitled 200+ interviews and speeches to make them publicly accessible to English-speaking supporters. #Zelensky #Ukraine

I honestly don't know how long he lasts, especially because Vance seems determined to deliver Zelenskyy to Putin. But as @jilldlawrence.bsky.social explains, he has had the most improbable rise of any world leader. And one of the very few who can even be mentioned in the same breath as Lincoln.

Well, as America implodes from within, it’d be a *great* time for the EU to finally do official Eurobonds. It’d likely be very attractive as a safe haven given the destruction of US hegemony & spillover to US T-bills. Bonus: Eurobonds can finance a desperately needed European security build up! 🇪🇺💶 ‼️

Here I react to the shameful encounter between American leaders and media and the Ukrainian president. No doubt there were more, but I saw five failures on our side: of hospitality, decency, democracy, strategy, and independence. Please watch and share. snyder.substack.com/p/five-failu...

"as with the war, Zelensky didn’t start this Oval Office exchange. Was he supposed to tolerate an extended public denigration of the Ukrainian people, who have been fighting a war for survival for three years?” — WSJ edit board Gift link: www.wsj.com/opinion/puti...

NEW: A searing editorial in the The Kyiv Independent. “It’s time to say it plainly. America’s leadership has switched sides in the war. The American people have not, and they should speak up. “A president just disrespected America in the Oval Office. It wasn’t Zelensky.” @kyivindependent.com

i want to see this energy and not a scintilla less

Putin invaded Ukraine because he wants to wipe that sovereign, democratic country off the map. He said so. The moral clarity is absolute: you support the victim of aggression and condemn the dictator. Doing the opposite makes you part of the problem, not the solution.

Your dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President Zelenskyy. We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace.

Okay... we feel like we say this every week but *a lot* of stuff happened. Let's break it down, starting with @brbarrett.bsky.social on why the DOGE takeover is worse than you think... (sorry, but you gotta read this one.)

Waving at mainstream parties accommodating far right issues. "Populist attitudes further moderate these perceptions, as voters with such views are typically more sceptical of parties' motives, limiting the impact of party behaviour on perceived commitment primarily to non-populist individuals."

NEW: White House orders agencies to prepare for large-scale firings

I gave a campus talk last night on Trump's first 100 days for the WUD Society & Politics group. A student asked me if I thought that, at some point, we might start to describe the US as a competitive authoritarian regime. I said that we were already there, it's just that most folks haven't noticed:

I miss DEI

Jeffries: "Let me be clear -- House Democrats will not provide a single vote to this reckless Republican budget. Not one. Not one."

The billionaire fired hundreds of FAA employees. Now, the agency is testing Starlink to help manage U.S. airspace.

What drives me crazy about the anti-DEI rhetoric is everyone wants to be judged on merit. But you can't be judged on merit if you can't even get in the door because you don't fit some prejudiced definition of who is capable and who isn't
