I’d love to hear your take on what happened in Pennsylvania in 2024. The Dem ground game crushed Trump, and then Trump crushed Kamala. The game is won online at a national level.

It’s as if no one in the administration ever read Dune or even saw the movie. Precision munitions don’t work on the Fremen.

The White House will ignore this as long as possible. And then Trump will say that this wouldn’t have happened if Biden weren’t the President.

We are now firmly ensconced in a nascent fourth reich. The Federalist article is a short trip into the mind of a failed Austrian artist. I am now afraid of what the ceremonies around the World Cup and the 250th Anniversary will look like.

I’m afraid that “The Framers anticipated…tyranny in all its forms” ascribes to men an omnipotence that never existed.

It’s four people with black souls and a normal person. That’s The Five.

The unitary executive theory is destructive for many reasons, but the most obvious one is that it obliterates internal checks on the president’s power within the executive branch. Congress created those checks to preserve democracy. SCOTUS dismantled them to kneecap democracy. It’s working.

Can someone publish a Venn diagram of Trump administration actions and actions favorable to Putin? I’m thinking it looks like a wheel and tire out of round.

Fail. And then what do we do? The USA needs to rediscover what really is exceptional about us. It starts with the rule of law.

The replies to Tom are hilarious. There are people confusing dishes they like with good food. I love beans on toast. I know it isn’t good food. And England’s greatest contribution to cuisine is HP Sauce.

This is it. This is where we were always heading. The Constitution is on life support.

And Fox spent two minutes on the most important story of the day.

It took 28 minutes to cover an immense constitutional crises.

I am afraid we have passed the event horizon into autocracy. Americans will have to fight to get back into the light. I do not know what the nature of the fight will be.

Alito and Thomas have always acted as if the law and Constitution had to be neutered.

Exactly right. The Trump regime’s actions are those of apparatchiks who do not fear anymore elections.

Data cutoff is actually the last day of March. Trump is killing a healthy economy.

It’s a good night, but all this does is push the reckoning up in time. Trump ain’t leaving willingly.

Trump was indicted twice by DOJ, but never went to trial. Among other issues, that’s because there was never a need for a Special Prosecutor and swift justice was essential. When you know the defendant is going to delay at every turn, don’t help.

Norms are not laws. Sitting Presidents being free from DOJ prosecution is not in the Constitution or statutory law.
comment in response to

Absolutely. SCOTUS deliberate delay and Roberts’ daft ruling on Presidential immunity will live in infamy.

You consistently miss on this point. Neither Biden nor Garland fully understood the threat to the Republic. Their adherence to norms helped put us in this catastrophe.

We need to walk and chew gum at the same time. Fight the present reality and figure out how to get a SCOTUS decision before they are on break in 2028 and Trump announces his candidacy.

50.7% of Americans are under 40 years old. They don’t viscerally understand the reference. They also don’t appreciate The Completion Backwards Principle.

Absolutely. It is the only logical conclusion after the immunity decision. SCOTUS is going to give us a mad king.

Logical through lines, truth and consistency are not required by MAGA. It’s infuriating but also the world in which we live.

TJAGS now in place will say that all of Trump’s and Hegseth’s orders are lawful. It will be up to the individuals to buck the chain of command. This is not good. We only have to look at 1861 to see a somewhat similar problem.

Yes. And it is the collective guilt that history and the rest of the world will ascribe to the United States of America that is the tragedy.
comment in response to

The tough part really is that this is what America wants. And we will pay a collective price.

Judge Boasberg has to act with speed. This will be out of America’s consciousness in 24 hours. We desperately need a hero in judicial robes to just enforce the law.
