🚨UPDATE: New evidence filed by the ACLU last night shows that the Trump administration is going forward with more Alien Enemies Act deportations in seeming violation of the Supreme Court's clear command that people be provided a "meaningful" opportunity to seek judicial review.

Our value doesn’t depend on our employability, but our employability *does* depend on challenging the perception that autistic = unemployable.

And also: I have seen attempts to affirm universal humanity go *badly* off the rails when they are not accompanied with advocacy for access to education, accessibility, and supports.

First order of business in class tomorrow: Make everyone read the 5th Amendment.

1.) We shouldn't judge a person's worth by how much they can contribute to the economy. 2.) This claim is patently false. Autistic people contribute plenty to the economy. I would go so far as to argue autistic people might *disproportionately* contribute the economy.

This is interesting stuff. America went from a country where 60 Minutes was by far the most watched show for decades — until the 2000s, when American Idol took the crown. And that has in turn shaped political views. www.niemanlab.org/2025/04/the-...

I’m but a simple political scientist at an under-funded public college who doesn’t have the rarified networks these peeps have to disseminate & launder bullshit. I did however spend 16 years researching citizenship & migration. Ungated article here written for smart laypersons.

Does anyone have a good summary of the Abrego Garcia case (or better yet, a video) for undergrads?

If you're not aware of @wearehighered.bsky.social you should be! A great tool for defending higher ed, included resources and statements. And a cool aesthetic as well...we won't beat a fascist take-over of higher education with cool aesthetics alone, but it doesn't hurt! www.wearehighered.org

Folks, the CFP trophy fell apart in JD Vance's hands as he was trying to lift it in front of the Ohio State football team, I am validated beyond all measure

Which is so weird given how sincere they are in the desire to stamp out anti-Semitism. So weird.

Florida officials are demanding that universities send lists of all research that faculty/staff have published or publicly shared in the last 6 years, even if it wasn't publicly funded. It's not clear what they'll do with the lists, but my bet is on nothing good. www.tampabay.com/news/educati...

None of this is true, and I, for one, still believe in facts. 1) Autism is not an epidemic 2) Vaccines don’t cause autism 3) There will not be significantly more information on what causes autism in the next five months
