Florida officials are demanding that universities send lists of all research that faculty/staff have published or publicly shared in the last 6 years, even if it wasn't publicly funded.
It's not clear what they'll do with the lists, but my bet is on nothing good.

This is just creating both pointless busywork for academics and a horrible workplace.
Somehow that doesn't seem like the actual likely answer
People who haven’t followed the damn administrative rules or responded to the other emails asking you to complete some task should do some hard soul searching if they are jumping to follow THESE directions.
Realize that the entire federal
government is an empty org chart filled by tech industry interns and AI. And that states have even less capacity than a gored federal
government.
They NEED us to do the work for them.
So much time to do all the wrong things!

And people responded by cheering and voting for more fascism.
FL & TN
Because it's the 'making them do it' part that matters.
Realize that no human is reading this, they don’t have that many people, and remove keywords.
Comply with fouled data. Project numbers and incoherent descriptions that lack obvious key terms for AI to look over. Brag about yourself endlessly without ever getting to the points.
Be academics.
The coming punishment of researches is twofold: researching prohibited subjects & failure to self report
Then password protect the files, and claim you did it by accident and didn’t record the password.
Then submit the wrong file.
If they are going to fire you anyway, and they will, make them work for it.
Malicious compliance has always been a key weapon against fascism. They are not smart people and need us to do the skilled work for them.
I mean, on face, all of this research is funded by the state through funding of public colleges and universities, and Florida has really strong transparency laws, so this isn't really out of bounds, right?
This will be read by AI. No human beings will see what you contribute.
They do not have the staffing for that.
They are trying to crowdsource the work. Don't be part of the crowd. Make them go find their own crowd.
And that means taking risks, and a "Oops, sorry, I misunderstood" level of non-compliance is the safest form of risk you can engage in.
I'm saying that it is time to engage in malicious compliance, knowing that you are submitting data that no human being has the time or training to read and evaluate.
Ride the line between incompetence and non-compliance.
Make them work for it. They don't have the staff to do it without you.
I missed this
