šŸ—£ļø ā€œHorrendous. Horrendous levels of hunger,ā€ said James Elder, a spokesman for Unicef. He found ā€œlevels of hunger I’ve not seenā€ and a society in ā€œsurvival modeā€ in Gaza

Also part of the reason Gandhi’s movement was so effective is because it occurred alongside a militant anti-colonial movement that was not afraid to use violence. His movement laid bare the hypocrisy of ā€œliberalā€ empire in that context. Non-violence is a tactic and *part* of a toolkit of resistance.

Fairbanks. Stand With LA! A sudden protest this morning, 9am. Geist & University. We stand with LA. ICE is not following due process procedures. Due Process is a constitutional right. #Fairbanks #Alaska #Alaskasky

behold the "smarter-than-human" machines that'll soon be "too smart to control"

What is the city but the people?

Wrote a thing this year asking what is a public research university? Part of that was about trying to decode what we mean by an institution committed to research. I found it odd that every definition we have includes some measure of federal research funding. 1/ www.science.org/content/arti...

DHS is breaking the law by blocking me and Reps. Rivas, Torres, and Correa from conducting oversight. That’s not a misunderstanding—it’s a violation of federal law. I’m demanding #SecNoem launch an immediate investigation. If her agency won’t follow the law, she needs to answer for it.

Los Angeles school worker shares frustration over parents having to leave their children’s graduation ceremony because ICE raided an elementary school’s graduation today

I can’t compete with this

Man imagine being such a combination of malicious and incompetent that the LAPD think it’s too much

Only in LA would protesters think to tag the ground so it’s visible in helicopter shots.

🚨NEW: @cbsnews.com reports ICE is arresting people who can't even legally be deported and holding them without enough food or water in a federal building BASEMENT in Los Angeles. Families dutifully attending check-ins with ICE are being arrested and held for days, forced to sleep on the floor.

If the idea of masked men in paramilitary groups descending upon our city streets concerns you, it should. The Republican Party is engineering private militia. This is NOT Legal. And it is unconstitutional. Understand why. This is a very simple quick read. www.law.georgetown.edu/icap/wp-cont...

The most striking thing about the LA protests is how many people just dropped everything to show up and yell at federal agents. There are people in suits, and carrying dogs, and wearing flip flops or bike helmets. These are not people who planned to do this today. But there they are.

As a long-term DC resident and a lover of that great city, this chills me to the core. This is an African American city without representation. Remember that when you look at these pictures.

Burbank airport being used to traffic kidnapping victims of the federal government.

Looking forward to every ICE/DHS/Fed agent in the state getting diarrhea till they die.

I'm imagining ICE doing to NYC what it's doing to LA — and the people of NYC responding the way people are in LA — and it all happening under Mayor Cuomo. He'll side with ICE, DHS and, of course, the NYPD. This man, who hates the city and doesn't live here, can not become mayor. Don't rank him.

Wrote this in the summer of 2020, definitely a good sign to be dusting it off now. "Less lethal" weapons are tools of colonial occupation marketed to police, and tools of police marketed to colonial soldiers. Anti-civilian weapons more than "less-lethal" www.scientificamerican.com/article/what...

ICE arrested former Afghan Nat'l Army soldier—our ally against Taliban—at his home in TX. He entered legally and atty says he has no criminal record. Was applying for asylum. Appears to be casualty of Trump decision de-documenting legal Afghan immigrants www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/new...

People trying to protect their neighbors are not the problem. The fact that some of you are thinking that way reflects a level of psychological capture & submission to fascism that you should interrogate. If they want an "excuse" to do something, they'll create one. The good guys aren't the problem.

Can’t shake the thought that having all this matĆ©riel in DC and provoking anti-ICE riots in LA, Chicago, and gods-know-where would make a handy little setup for declaring martial law. Meh, it’s probably nothing. 😬

I feel like Bluesky is unaware of Zohran Mamdani’s dark past as the hip hop artist Mr Cardamom? youtu.be/iQVsVNPkPmE?...

Literally two weeks ago Stephen Miller screamed at ICE leadership for not raiding Home Depots.

Full solidarity with Los Angeles as they fight an invasion of gestapo and the long-standing fascist occupying force that is the LAPD.

National Guard is paid by the federal government but controlled by the Governor so if they do show up then we know Newsom allowed it.

So who controls the national guard is the question or is this some sort of paramilitary outside governmental force. Sure looks like California is about to be invaded by a fascist army.

The public can use cheap consumer drones to watch *the police*, and police REALLY hate this.

This is a great tier list. In case I haven’t said it explicitly: we are so fortunate to have @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social and @bradlander.bsky.social in the race. I can personally attest, they show up for our communities, they care, and both are worthy of your enthusiastic vote. Do not rank Cuomo!

Yeah definitely renewing my FT subscription and not just because I am obsessed with their graphics.

Crowds of brave people have surrounded the ICE detention centre in Los Angeles. They are trying to liberate victims kidnapped by Trump’s regime forces. Victims were abducted and thrown into the basement of the building without due process. #3E

LAPD shot him with a stun grenade made by Defense Technology LLC, a subsidiary of Cadre Holdings aka Safariland. Cadre Holdings munitions are also used by the Israeli military against Palestinian children in the West Bank and Gaza. Their CEO is multimillionaire Warren Kanders of Greenwich, CT.

In what feels like a repeat of the Eric Adams situation, namely federal prosecutors resigning rather than going along with a naked effort to weaponize their office, a prosecutor in Tennessee resigns over the Abrego Garcia charges: abcnews.go.com/Politics/liv...

I swear to god I have to start collecting these to write my own version of the Historia Augusta for the fall of the US šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚ Adding this, along with ICE detaining a US Marshall to the files today

This is such a profound summation of our global moment I can hardly process it.

ā€œThe Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is exacerbating the death and desperation in Gaza. It must be dismantled and the siege lifted so that those with the expertise and capacity to feed Gaza’s starving people can return to work.ā€ A new addendum to my article here: www.abc.net.au/religion/as-...

The asking of difficult questions is particularly important in India during a moment like Operation Sindoor because the Modi government has a poor record when it comes to the conduct of such operations, writes rahulraothariel.bsky.social:
