“Riffs!” “Yeah right!” Yalll don’t even know what I’m talking about do you. Youngsters!

“I thought this would just put the negroes in their place but turns out to this administration I’m a negro too and now I’m upset.”

Academics have been pedantic and annoying for as long as there have been universities. Magically the public now notices it and hates us? Nah dawg. What it is is that the minds of disaffected men these institutions now confer elite status on women and minorities. So they don’t like them anymore.

Been saying it forever: election rigging in the south works wonders.

This new Bill Burr special man…I hope every Democratic Party member watches this. It’s just so on point.

As chair of our senate academic policy committee, I just proposed 1) developing a P&T research impact statement (similar to Covid) to support faculty whose research is being halted/blocked and 2) revamping P&T criteria to account for everything breaking. If you're doing the same, let's talk!

With the attacks on science and academia by the current administration, if those of us who have tenure don't speak up, it's really hard to continue justifying the tenure system based on academic freedom.

This was always it. This the same reasoning as “I don’t watch the NBA, they are a bunch of lazy rich crybabies.” Alotta folks just can’t stand the idea of rich black people. Racism is such a profound social force here. It’s often stirring the drink when it doesn’t look like it on the surface.

Collaborators with the fascists.

“I don’t understand how any of this works but I have a super strong opinion about it, and if you politely point out that evidence suggest something different, I will call you an elitist who talks down to me and blame you for my fascist sympathies.”

I think I believe in evil now.

It’s a workers party now

I’m struck by how close we’re getting to finally curing some of the world’s worst diseases—sickle cell, Alzheimers, pancreatic cancer, etc.—at the same time that the world’s worst people are destroying medical research and care around the world.

Yall ten years ago: why would a bunch of faculty ever need a union (sigh) we are not factory workers I hate unions blah blah deadweight loss blah blah Today: the furher says the university has to fire anyone who says anything bad about him I hope I dont go to the camps for saying tariffs are bad

I swear to god this is the only thing that makes any sense.

I don’t know shit about real estate finance but I don’t understand how it’s profit maximizing for the landlord to have doubled the rent on this beloved coffee shop in my neighborhood to $10k a month only to then have it still sitting vacant 2 years later. Ain’t some money better than no money?

Lolololol

Midterm day! Kicking it old school.

Um yikes.

Black History is American history...

The media is now obsessed with remorseful Trump voters, white voters, who are now losing their jobs or upset about inflation. I don’t want to hear from them. I want to hear from the Black voters who stood in line for hours, only to be turned away because their name was purged from the rolls.

“Maybe if I show this unrepentant violent Nazi bully sociopath a good faith effort at compromise he’ll ease up on me.”

#generalstrike

The Democratic Party is dead to me. We are going to have to build whatever we are doing from scratch.

I know it feels like pie in the Sky and typically requires organizing infrastructure we don’t have, but a general strike would bring all this shit to an end. Not a corny one day boycott. Billionaires make money off of *us*.

💯 There’s a lesson here I hope the few well meaning admins take away. If you bow to political bullies it only produces more bullying. They are never going to be satisfied and back off. It only tells them that you have no spine and that they should keep pushing.

💀

The GOP is about to do what they did to Florida, Ohio, and Missouri - all former purple states - up here and in Wisconsin. We're facing a firehose of dark money that will inundate us over the next year and a half before midterms... and that's IF there are fair and free elections (not guaranteed).

Probably an unpopular opinion but alot of times “the left talks down to regular people” translates to “I refuse to read or learn how anything works but you need to weigh my trash ass dipshit opinion equally to entire entire fields of experts.”

hey, can one of the reasonable centrist writers condescendingly explain to me again that it is overblown to call these people segregationists?

We're gonna move fast and break things. Sometimes we'll make mistakes. If we remove the wrong organ we'll put it back in. We are disrupting surgery

This is the whole thing. One sext of billionaires is running amok with the kleptocracy and the another sect of billionaires is keeping the opposition party from doing anything about it. Actual Nazis in power and the democrats are still punching left for their donors.

It’s in advisable for us normies to try to get in these clowns’ heads but if you made me say I’d bet they are on purpose manipulating the market to short stocks then buy up on the cheap. I do think they are really that craven.

Imagine DOGE opens your mail and finds your household electric bill. To eliminate this cost, they burn your house down without warning. Then they total up the bills that, as a homeless person, you will never again pay. On its website, DOGE boasts about the money it has saved you.

History shows us that there are many instances where both individuals and groups of people are perfectly fine making everyone (including themselves) worse off if it means they get to lord over the like of rubble. It’s not all incompetence.

Just thoroughly on point.

Whatever you do don’t look at your retirement tomorrow.

It’s so stupid. I’m embarrassed to have some of these mfs in any office. Why would a transphobe vote for you for switching to go after trans people instead of THE PARTY THATS BEEN TRANSPHOBIC THE WHOLE TIME

Richest guy in the world telling us we can’t afford to have our government fund cancer research.

Masculinity is a construct. And this iteration of masculinity the right is doing doesn’t strike me as “traditional” at all. There is nothing strong and stoic about any of it. These mfs whine about everything, cheat and rig systems, and put others down. It’s not at all how I was raised.
