Yes, we noticed. You're still here.

I feel like we've been saying this forever but it's worth saying again. Book bans do not exist in a vacuum. They're not one off events. Book bans are the canary in the coal mine. They usher in an era of censorship, fascism, violent scapegoating. Authors, join the fight: @authorsabb.bsky.social!!

If Donald wants to have the biggest, most joyous parade ever, he should start it by riding in this:

Hey Canada! You guys excited to elect Mark Carney? Kick that Temu Trump Poilievre to the curb for good! 🇨🇦

In case you hadn't noticed:

It's so odd that Christian Nationalists are trying to stomp out *pretend* "anti-Christian bias" when their repudiation of everything Jesus ever said is the biggest example of *real* "anti-Christian bias" in the United States right now.

The Supreme Court granted Trump de facto impunity for his personal crimes ... and then expected him to obey their judicial orders? Impunity is impunity.

It's striking how much Trumpists hate what's made the United States great: immigration, trade, medical and scientific research, the rule of law, an enlightened patriotism, a willingness and ability to correct past injustices. At the end of the day, Trumpism is Third Worldism.

It's worth remembering that the entire planet is being engulfed at the moment by a crisis that is the work of a single person. I've heard some people ask how many people actually support this. I think there's a better question: how many people support this *who would still support it* the day ...

Don’t worry folks, MAGA says they’re SURE that the nepo baby who bankrupted casinos, committed egregious business fraud, added $8 trillion to our debt and left office as the worst jobs president since Herbert f’ng Hoover is going to “usher in a golden age” by crashing our economy. Fucking idiots.

Right from Trump’s playbook.

What makes this visual even more stunning is that it was made possible by people who said their #1 concern when voting was the economy. What idiots.

French Senator Claude Malhuret: "Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine... We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor."

Virtually every destructive thing Trump has done has been an abuse of power, illegal or both. He could be stopped. But he is enabled by his own party and those who have the power to stop him but don’t. They are all complicit.

The thing is that Congress still does have the means to stop him, you know. His party has to turn on him, it’s as simple as that. And then we could, you know, go back to understanding that having bad faith narcissist malevolent ignoramuses in charge is bad for everyone.

He was appointed on purpose to speed the destruction of America. His area of sabotage is spreading disease to weaken the population, and wreck medical and public health research and action.

Good. This isn't rhetoric or hyperbole: On the current trajectory there is simply no way the United States survives a full Trump term as any kind of recognizable liberal democracy. Thinking about how to beat him in 2028 is a waste of time; it will be too late by then.

Keep in mind: the NEH’s budget is 0.01% of the entire federal budget. This is not about savings - it is about the destruction of the Humanities and the critical thinking abilities that they teach. 🗃️

I kind of want to go

It took under 100 days for "I'll lower prices on day one" to become "who needs money or a 401k when your heart is full of love for Dear Leader Trump"

Trump loves taking credit for other people's achievements, but he will soon be shirking responsibility for the US recession he caused all on his very own.

A felon is President of the US. Evangelical white christians reject teachings of Jesus; billionaire from South Africa is cutting benefits for millions of Americans: a puppy killer is head of Homeland Security. An anti-science man is head of HHS. and on and on... this isn't an April fools joke.

Is it really too much to ask media outlets reporting on invading Greenland & Canada to lead with "THIS IS WILDLY ILLEGALLY UNDER BOTH OUR NATO AND UN TREATY COMMITMENTS, WHICH ARE ALSO PART OF US LAW"? The normalization of this is wildly inappropriate & there is no excuse for it.

The argument that actually punishing Le Pen and her cronies for their crimes will only make them stronger in the long run is a little hard to swallow when we have a prominent example of a right-wing authoritarian who was very much not punished for his crimes and is now wrecking everything in sight.

Everyone needs to understand what Elon and DOGE are building, an AI driven panopticon that will know everything about you and will be used to ensure compliance with their fascist agenda. They are creating a unified database of everything the federal government has on every single American. 🧵1/

RFK, Jr. is an idiot. The fact that such an ignorant, evil person has *any* say-so in our nation's health shows how broken America is right now and how vile and stupid Donald Trump is.

A haunted charlatan with cold black eyes dripping poison into the ear of a monarch is a tale as old as time. In 2025, however, we’ve replaced Rasputin’s menacing charisma with an effete, deadbeat Boer whose temperament is redolent of a middle school boy terrified to remove his shirt at a pool party.

Trump has ample warning from financial markets of how harmful his tariffs will be. He is proceeding anyway, because the only way he can feel alive and fulfilled is by intentionally hurting people.

Quite honestly, this is internationally embarrassing — and the bar for that these days is very high.

"We don’t want your Nazi cars / take a one-way trip to Mars" is a pretty good chant

JD Vance slams Demark for not doing enough for its citizens, when it provides universal healthcare for all of them when the US does not, and they're ranked the "Happiest Country In the World." The US ranks at the bottom of that list. America is a delusional country that got high on its own supply.

Cartoon by @deadder.bsky.social It seems like a good day to remind Canadians that Poilievre and the Conservative Party of Canada recently voted against an updated free trade deal with Ukraine that had the support of every other party in Parliament. www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb... #cdnpoli

Trump agenda for April 1) Crash the world economy with tariffs 2) Wreck NATO by annexing Greenland 3) End 1st and 5th amendment rights for immigrants 4) Welcome measles to toughen the species 5) Pardon financial criminals 6) Help Putin smash Ukraine 7) More memecoins!

Donald and Elon both have a pathologically hatred and disdain for those in need. Which is odd, since Donald needed his father to rescue his failed businesses to the tune of over $400,000,000 and Elon needed the US government to rescue his faltering businesses to the tune of $18 Billion (so far).

I am so proud of my Prime Minister Mark Carney. He has drawn a line in the sand and stood up for Canadians and has vision that will benefit all Canadians and strengthen our friendship with Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and the rest of the free world Canada is Sovereign

Important to realize that Trump’s approach to Canada and Greenland is like his approach to Ukraine. It’s not even simply American imperialism. It is America enabling Russian imperialism. (1/3)

keir starmer in paris: “it’s clear the russians are filibustering. they are playing games and they’re playing for time. it is a classic from the putin playbook, but we can’t let them drag this out while they continue prosecuting their illegal invasion.”

This energy right here.

How long will it take for some Dem leaders to realize you don’t compromise with would be tyrants? Where does it get you? “I’ll have half a tyranny please.” “Can’t we just split the difference between despotism and democracy and settle on a fairly benevolent dictatorship.”

1) JVL’s Law: Any institution not explicitly anti-Trump will eventually become useful to Trump. 2) Stop viewing political life through the lens of American politics as we have known it, and adopt the viewpoint of dissident movements in autocratic states. www.thebulwark.com/p/how-to-thi...

I don't blame them. But it's mindblowing that in 8 weeks we've managed to prompt Canada to pursue defense deals that exclude the US.

This is the swamp.
