For @suzanne-reeves.bsky.social a lovely little friend on the Underground platform at Warren Street.

Wonderful news and so well deserved @Ian McKeith

Apparently Jackie Baillie (Labour) had accused the Scottish Government of deploying “Frailty Teams” as “bouncers” at the front door as they offer multidisciplinary assessments & alternatives to admission in A&E for older people. #Frailty #MedSky Photo from FB as no one I know would buy the $*n.

Good paper, although a cynic might say this is neuropsychologists saying, “Hey, we’re still here!” In relation to Alzheimer’s diagnosis. There’s actually been lots of work done on earlier functional detection- it’s just not cut through into clinical practice where generally they like what they know.

Long waits in A&E kill patients. Maybe a thousand every month. The recent ONS analysis has issues but makes the problem look worse than previous analyses: www.hsj.co.uk/daily-insigh...

Bravo to the Wall Street Journal for coming out against the RFK Jr. nomination. Spread the word. This man is hazardous to your health. @wsj.com #RFK www.wsj.com/opinion/rfk-...

a cool side effect of having done mindfulness exercises for years is that when i have a panic attack caused by health anxiety, i subconsciously and automatically listen to every tiny body signal, which makes the panic attack worse <3 <3 <3

This is unbelievably stupid and makes clinical trial evidence worse for all. The reason is simple: clinical trial recruitment is hard, you nearly always get weird disproportionate participation. To counter that, you need active measures so trials can simulate YOU. www.reuters.com/business/hea...

I’m an NSF panel reviewer that was scheduled to meet today. Just got notice that all NSF panels were canceled today. I reviewed some innovative proposals in support of students. Devastating if these scholars don’t get to do this work. For the love of science & students I hope this is just a delay.💔

Life expectancy (LE) varies dramatically across U.S. populations, with increasing disparities over the last 20 years. E.g., Native Americans have lower LE (64 yrs) than people living in Rwanda (68) and Iraq (72). #medsky @kffhealthnews.bsky.social kffhealthnews.org/news/article...

Disruptive events such as hip fractures or pneumonia substantially alter the clinical trajectories of people with dementia and are associated with worse outcomes than in people without dementia who experience these events. #geriatrics agsjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

“Individuals with schizophrenia need pride, meaning, self-esteem, and agency to flourish as much as anyone else, perhaps even more so. How our collective lives can be organized to make these possibilities accessible is a social challenge rivaling the scientific one” 👇🏽

"This is not a simplistic story where doctors are the villains and the patient finds healing once removed from their claws by a loving family. Chronic schizophrenia is a disruptive force that leaves families desperate and helpless."

It's true that not all AfD supporters in Germany are Nazis, but it's also true that all the Nazis in Germany will be voting for the AfD.

NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research. Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
