We must all stand as a united front against the kidnapping and illegal detention of Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador. Senator, I am willing to join you and help Organize other members of the House to do the same. @vanhollen.senate.gov

JUST IN: @ACLU tells court there are indications Trump administration may be preparing men in Colorado for another Alien Enemies Act deportation flight. Doc: www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

5:04 pm ET and it appears that the government has not yet filed its daily status update in the Abrego Garcia case. Deadline was 5 pm.

They violated a court order to keep the AP out of the event where they publicly violated a different court order

This is it, folks. This is The Moment.

It’s the Fugitive Slave Act all over again, and ought to be resisted by any means necessary, in pretty much the same manner as the FSA was. Plus, this is not a legitimate government, which makes the situation morally even more cut and dry than the FSA was.

They're building concentration camps for political dissidents

Re-posting for no reason at all

What an absolute joke. Everyone here is pretending. Bukele is pretending that he's incapable of releasing someone his own jail is holding at US expense, and Trump is pretending he can't just ask Bukele to release the guy. And meanwhile, Mr. Abrego rots in prison.

Doomscroll: The Movie Directed by Ari Aster

NEW: DOJ doubles down on refusing to follow Judge Xinis's orders. Today's status report contains nothing new. It again fails to provide information about steps they're taking to bring Mr. Abrego back), and arguably violates her command that a declaration be made by someone with personal knowledge.

THREAD: The Trump administration's DOJ has removed a study from the NIJ website that found that immigrants, and particularly undocumented immigrants, commit crimes at significantly lower rates than U.S. citizens. The study is at odds with the Trump regime's propaganda about immigrants & crime. (1)

So Trump is using Garcia’s status as an El Salvadoran national to justify doing nothing at all to facilitate his return to the U.S. as required by the 9-0 April 10 SCOTUS order. In the meantime these thugs are planning to designate part of CECOT Prison in El Salvador as U.S. territory!

I don’t use the “fascist” term often or really ever, as to preserve its meaning, but what the United States Government is embarking on with the El Salvadoran prison camp is simply that. It’s an affront to the rule of law, the Constitution, and centuries of Anglo-American constitutional development.

WOW: “Defendants are not in a position where they "can" share any information requested by the Court. That is the reality.” DOJ refuses to say more, doesn’t even say whether they are refusing to appear at 1 pm hearing

Let’s start seeing some real consequences, here.

God, I love this judge

UPDATE: Judge Paula Xinis issues an order directing the Trump administration to “take all available steps” to facilitate Kilmer Armando Abrego Garcia’s return. And orders the government to provide information about his location and status, among other things, by 9:30 ET today.

Supreme Court's issued a unanimous order to return someone from the gulag. Now we'll truly see how much the court system, period, still has teeth.

NEW: The Supreme Court directs the Trump administration to "facilitate" the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from a prison in El Salvador, where he was sent due to an "administrative error." It also somewhat narrows the district court's order. No noted dissents. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Can't be emphasized enough that the image of the US deporting people for things they said is so much more damaging to its foreign policy interests than anything a student might have said on the quad

The fact that #SCOTUS hasn't yet ruled in Abrego Garcia isn't proof of *how* the justices are going to rule. But the longer it takes, the more it suggests that there isn't a majority of the Court who views this dispute with the same *urgency* that so many of us do. And that's a problem unto itself.

90 percent. They sent innocent people to a gulag so Trump could look like a tough guy. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

This is a thousand times more of a threat than the economic devastation we’re all reasonably enough distraught about out. The constitutional order as we’ve known it is hanging by a fraying thread that trump is holding a straight razor to with no one even reaching to withdraw his hand.

From the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court

Think about what kind of person you have to be to lie about sending someone to a torture prison for life based on nothing bsky.app/profile/atru...
