The mechanism is that Trump was never a legitimate president, thus his acts are not undone, but null and void, never having held presidential imprimatur.

(The somewhat wobbly case for this is that Trump is not eligible under the 14th amendment, precluding his Legitimacy)

It’s hard not to imagine that trump will eventually declare war against an ally (Greenland, Canada, Mexico) and any protests will be used to send dissidents to Elsalvador. A few of those kidnappings and the protests would end and consolidate the regime
