While my travels remind me that diseases should never be named after real places, I would be remiss if I did not also acknowledge the privilege of travel. And that those diseases have brought undue hardship to so many. #Privilege #GlobalHealth #DiseaseNaming

Oh Nicola, I’m so sorry that you have to say goodbye to Orville. The void in your heart can only be filled with sweet memories, and I know he supplied you with many of those. At the end of the day, he was loved and he gave love. There can be no testimony to describe a member of the family. ❤️❤️❤️

I spent 5 weeks in Queensland in 2022. FNQ is beautiful! Nothing like a Queensland River! Nor a Queensland Beach.

Just like in response to 9/11 when we created the DHS, we need a new Federal Department of #OneHealth. COVID could have taken us there, certainly H5N1 (et al H’s & Ns) should take us there, assuming the federal govt is serious about serving the public health needs of its constituents.

Thanks Isabella for sharing a theory that at least assuages my rational brain’s near apoplexy at everything it’s been hearing lately.
I suspect my rational brain is organizing an internal revolt in my CNS as I keep failing to provide its daily needs for public health logic, optimism and calm.

I’m stumped by this! Surely Louisiana’s state health codes and regulations would supersede these “instructions/orders”. And where is the voice of the Louisiana state Surgeon General?
It’s appalling.

We are a profession that not only benefits from skilled scientists but also from skilled science communicators. Kristina, your profile very much speaks to both of those competencies. Good luck!

I wonder if these antivaxer types also think they would be the best person to replace an incapacitated pilot on a flight. Or is it just virologists, immunologists, scientists, MDs DVMs, PhDs, etc, that they presume to not have expertise?

As the mother of a hot shot crew member and as an epidemiologist, I say thank you.

Here’s another: “Sanctioned”
It was a school sanctioned trip to the museum- approved.
The student was sanctioned for breaking a window- disciplined

I opted for grading…but that’s mostly a statement about how much I’m procrastinating about Xmas.
