Oh, man, not Gene Hackman. 2025 can just fuck right off. Okay. Let me tell you a little bit about Gene Hackman...

Bezos, wearing his heart on his sleeve. Personal liberties and free markets--we get it, put up one pillar at a time: All the personal liberties DOGE is taking with the US government are essential.

So, there is a word that helps us make sense of things.

Thinking you should decide who to promote based on an answer to an email explains a lot about the problems with his business model & products

The delusions ...

I used to live in NYC from 2006 to 2011 & the scariest thing that happened on the subway was a drunk woman yelling at her boyfriend: "I'm a delicate flower" over & over again the entire ride under the Upper West Side.

This is so bad. Who thinks of stuff like this?

Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey:

Please read.

Excellent thread!

Ok, this has to happen.

The German Literature Archive at Marbach permanently acquires Kafka's famous 'Letter to my father', which remained undelivered. Much more than just a letter - more like a key to understanding Kafka's works.

This is really the best take on the disaster that is DOGE.

The other website is pretty much done

The first and single most convincing evidence for the Dunning-Kruger effect is the belief that one can do everything. Musk believes he can do everything. Hence, Musk suffers from the Dunning-Kruger effect. QED.

If you follow this logic, it means the poorest guy in the world should at least be dumb and stupid. But why should that be true? It's patently false, regardless whether one takes the "should" as an empirical should or as a moral/ethical should.

So, we know who Musk's model is. Musk's literally telling us what he's doing – and why. He's not even trying to hide it.

I have no patience for "that's what they get" replies. I don't care the fuck anybody voted for or didn't vote for. The people whose lives are being destroyed by Trump are not my enemies. Period. I don't want anyone harmed. I want the harm to stop.

In the classical world, to claim power over the sea was a clear sign of the ABUSE of power: Xerxes having the sea whipped, Roman plutocrats building over it. I think I know what they would have thought about RE-NAMING it!

Forget riddle me this. DOGE is on some terrify me this nonsense. And it's just begun. What a shitshow.

Can't believe the amount of heat we used to get for downloading an mp3 when every tech company is downloading the sum total of human expression to sell a scromited version back to us

I just learned that Saint Augustine is the patron saint of Bridgeport, Connecticut. And I'm so confused. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augusti...

My copy finally arrived yesterday. A handsome little volume. My translation of "Language" by #KarlKraus, complete with a brief introduction.

Mary Midgley's "Philosophical Plumbing" goes straight into my "must-read metaphilosophy texts" folder. I only wish I had read it sooner, back when I still believed good philosophy could be done from the ivory tower www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

I feel like not being stressed right now is a huge red flag

OpenAI right now

Wow. it must feel terrible when someone takes something you made and uses it without permission or payment
