ue5 folks, I need help finding a post. someone was showcasing using invisible volumes or BSP brushes to "paint" a material layer on a nanite mesh. I know we have VT meshpaint support now, but I really want to find that post. I recall it had tan bricks and was blending a teal paint layer?

Here's a workflow I used for creating Italian cypresses (Cupressus sempervirens) using Quixel textures as a base. Model branches and combine with texture cutouts on a plane - bake - assemble clusters - make a core with tiling texture - position clusters around the core #blender #3dart #b3d #quixel

Don't think I've ever said this outright before, but the Game UI Database is NOT driven by AI. All 60,000+ screenshots were tagged BY HAND by myself over the last four years. Every screen type, every filter - even the colours! When you're passionate about the quality of your work, you don't need AI.

Game Dev real talk: Folders are the illusion of organization, not the actualization of it. With fuzzy search being the norm, a good naming convention is the most important way to organize. As soon as you get past 1 or 2 layers deep in a folder structure you are actively disorganizing content.

A few years ago Mike Laidlaw gave a great GDC talk on creative direction / narrative direction, which had a side tangent into "why you should write your narrative bible like a ttrpg book" and I've been using that technique for side projects ever since and it's been a joy.

It's pretty common for folks to prototype spaces in Unreal using the default colour scheme and simply never change it. Often something more vibrant with stronger contrast is more helpful for readability and it takes about 30 seconds to tweak the colours for your style of game to help design. #UETips
