Is it Stockholm syndrome from reading these for years, or do my daughter‘s books hit kind of hard sometimes?

"I’ve definitely been using more zoomer terms with Yuuji more than any of the [others]. When I show Core a TikTok, he just says, “I don’t get it.” [Even when] it’s so plain and obvious to me." — TL Yeon🧵(❤️‍🔥♻️):

"Our apartment is right under Inspired and Quad's apartment [...] One day, we came home, and our apartment was completely soaked. [One of them] forgot the water on, in the bath or sink. The water just kept going, and then it started going through our roof." — FLY Massu🧵(❤️‍🔥♻️):

There are currently 6 activist judges on the Supreme Court, and they’re not left wing

I've heard from those in Venice that the lack of affordable grocery options was taking a toll. Today, I'm announcing a $2.4M investment for them to build a new, municipally owned grocery store — and over $10M to address food deserts statewide through our Grocery Initiative.

Today on Volts: I talk with @jbpritzker.bsky.social, the governor of Illinois, about standing up for climate progress in the age of Trump. We touch on industrial decarbonization, the "fiscal cliff" facing state transit agencies, lawsuits against the feds, and why Dem elites have been so timid.

This whole clip is truly unbelievably great. I am genuinely astounded by how good this is.

ever get the feeling andré 3000's flute album came out like ten years ago

The US Constitution guarantees due process. Donald Trump is eroding it in real time – we must fight back to restore the balance of power. Today, I’m announcing a series of measures against El Salvador for aiding his unconstitutional deportation scheme.

?

I wish to take this opportunity to remember one of the best flavor texts of the past 5 years

We’re just going to pretend that the court hasn’t been hijacked by right wing extremists selected explicitly to vote in accordance with Republicans? Quite an omission

“No no, it’s YOUR science that’s bad. MY science is very good”

this is such good news. i think it is also an opportunity for democrats to state forthrightly that when they win power again everyone responsible for this crime will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and will face the american people to answer for their lawlessness

baby gronk got rizzed up by livvy

Doesn't seem like the pro-internment camp decision is "overruled" at all, actually!

Overlooking the obvious depravity here, it will be interesting when in 4 days trump invokes the insurrection act on the basis of an “ongoing boarder invasion” when Vance flatly claims here that it has been “successfully stopped”

RFK Jr is such a piece of shit www.hhs.gov/press-room/m...

I pray you’ll read my latest. We are being challenged as a nation and this is a test we must pass. open.substack.com/pub/sherrily...

Trump has been racking up some procedural "wins" at the Supreme Court and the answer for why is simple: John Roberts is a feckless coward. He's like a cop in Uvalde, cowering outside waiting for the shooting to stop, instead of doing his job. My latest in @thenation.com

i know it’s a fraught word but these are degenerate people

The (entirely self created) problem that Republicans are in is that if the go against trump here and reverse tariffs, they’ll be expected to do so again when he does something even more insane and destructive. We’re only 3 months in!

Correct. The tariffs are not economic policy, but instruments of domination. To Trump, every relationship has a winner & loser. He is using US economic might to bully & dominate every trading partner, individually. Each must now scrape & plead for special permission *not* to be punished.

This feels really mean-spirited. www.theatlantic.com/health/archi...

Masking discourse is on again and I’ll just say if you see people masking when few others are it’s likely because they’ve determined that for them, in that setting, the benefit of not catching (or spreading) whatever’s going around is worth the cost of masking. It’s rarely more complicated than that

I couldn’t help myself

The disdain coming from this @theatlantic.com piece is palpable. If you wanted to do Trump’s work of backfilling justification for a mask ban, would you write anything different? Everybody who masks *must* be a jolly idiot who’s actually just thrilled with excising intimate personal relationships

ELIE MYSTAL: “This is what fascism looks like. I don’t know what y’all expected it to look like… People are being abducted and disappeared from our streets. These people haven’t even been charged in court.” 🇺🇸

In a context crossover that will make sense to no one: This is the Caedrel strategy for a fully transparent League of Legends team. The only difference is that nobody was fighting against Caedrel. I’d still guess (and hope) that Kat’s campaign works better than anyone expects

There are trans Americans right now looking out at this world and wondering if anyone is going to stand up for them and for their simple right to exist. Well, I am. We are. We will.

we're deciding, at scale, that laws do not apply to republicans during an election cycle

Frustrating framing. “Kennedy pinkie promised that he won’t take vaccines away, while spending his entire career advocating vaccines should be taken away” should not be the take away. He’s already taking official steps to take away vaccine access!

“We are the only nation on earth that will respect your sovereignty” Brother you’re the primary aggressor

RECOVER grants for #LongCOVID pathobiology studies were among those rescinded under a new NIH directive this week. While other aspects of the NIH RECOVER program continue operating, scientists and advocates say Long COVID research is broadly under threat from the Trump administration. bit.ly/4hQXeYY

Think of it like this If RFK spent his entire career loudly shouting “ACTUALLY THE DESERT IS FULL OF WATER, NOBODY DIES OF THIRST IN THE DESERT” your response shouldn’t be “well there is that one oasis…”

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.

This framing is unbelievable

Thrilled that not all blue state governors are veering right (looking at you NY and CA)

“One young man sobbed when a guard pushed him to the floor. He said, ‘I’m not a gang member. I’m gay. I’m a barber.’ I believed him. *** He “began to whimper,” as his head was roughly shaved, “folding his hands in prayer as his hair fell.” He “asked for his mother & cried as he was slapped again.”
