8% loss in 3 weeks. Only positive is that I'm not retiring anytime soon.

Only 53% think he wants what is best for himself??? Oh my...

I have 2 passports. I've heard more about what's going on in DC from the elected official (including what he is doing) of my birth country than I have from my house representative. As a matter of fact, my house rep has been entirely silent. Just like the 2 senators who just vote yes to please DT.

It's been extremely difficult to focus, indeed. Ironically, working on things (pretty much any thing) would help tune the chaos out, but then so what? Sigh

Meanwhile councils aren’t meeting and grants aren’t funded. This admin and musk clearly do not care about the people. It’s all about tax cuts for the super wealthy.

Just two weeks and things have actually gone a lot worse. Enough that I removed identifiers on bluesky. We have daily discussions at home about possibly leaving. Both very educated (PhD in AI in medicine) and trilingual French included. Skills apparently unwanted by the current admin. Long sigh

We hear Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett often, we hear AOC speak out, we hear Chris Murphy & Bernie Sanders. About the rest of the dems in Congress? When will they speak out? When will they fight for their constituents? Also don’t gop members realize that when DT is done with them he will toss them?

By now it should be clear that 1. There is no bottom; 2. Trump couldn’t care less about the country or its people. It’s all about him feeling like he’s king. At what point do people go out and protest ? 🤷♂️

Without academic research and government funding there is no big tech, there is no big pharma. All discoveries initiate in academia.

I’m old enough to remember when not siding with Russia was deemed American. It’s as if potus were a Russian agent … as if

There is a scene in rounders with Ed Norton and Matt Damon where they talk poker and how at a table if you don’t know who the pigeon is then you’re it. That’s why Congress doesn’t do anything.

Ironically if this happens it will largely be red states that are affected.

On par with Sen Kennedy saying that not supporting mass vaccinations in LA anymore is “doing a disservice to children”… they’re acting like they couldn’t do anything about it!

Maybe it’s not a bad approach to develop a mobile app to put cat faces on zoom calls but for things like airliner software, stuff requiring stringent security and accuracy, it’s a terrible idea.

Only Putin can ask them that. And he saw on TV what they did.

The rest of the news is so terrifying that this barely gets any traction.

For now it seems that they remained more scared of Trump and Musk than of their constituents.

It seems also very apparent that he has no idea about how Liberia came to be a country.

For Congress to stand up and act they’d need to find their spine first.

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes! 🎼 🎵 🎶

Well it’s my home country but I’ve lived here (legally, just saying that for the MAGAs) for over 20 years. And that thought has crossed my mind. There would be millions down in the streets. Maybe we suck at war but we sure are the world champs of protests and revolutions.

The irony is that those of us who actually do research in AI for healthcare, we know it’s nowhere near ready. We are several years away. At best. Sure we can read X-rays a bit faster. That’s about it. Self driving cars are further along and they still keep crashing.
