I'm glad I don't get asked for career advice as much anymore. I can't in good faith encourage anyone trying to break into the industry right now. It's messed up. We need juniors. We need new faces and ideas. But it's not a good place to start a career and not a good place to rest your future on.

The stock market is cancer for creative industries. The codified fiduciary duty to glorified gamblers who simply bought stock is poison to long term decision making and good business strategy. The human cost alone should be enough. But capitalism doesn't serve us, in the end.

I struggle to put into words how essential this weekend was for my overall wellbeing. Time spent with some of my closest friends, wearing a cool costume and embracing a world with fundamentally different problems than thus one, and contributing to something bigger than myself... It's healing.

Tomorrow/Wednesday is the weird anniversary of Crop Circle's closure. We found out at 11:20pm Sunday, February 4th that our entire studio was furloughed effective immediately. Most folks woke up to that email. The chaos that ensued after will forever be burned into my memory.
