It is important that you talk to your pets about important topics before someone else does. If you find it difficult to bring up sensitive topics with them, my books will help you, buy them now! Disclaimer: Just some photoshop fun, books don't exist, also not my original idea ;)

I was on this property recording this species. This is EXACTLY what happens when a species is delisted. 'There was no presumption that the land would be developed.' Three years later, the owners destroy 90% of the world's population. The reason it is endangered - loss of habitat to development.

Surely no one would clog up the box.

Things I need to hear.

Sean Duffy is showered with loud boos as he announces the Trump administration is going to investigate the spending on California's high-speed rail project -- a project that is largely state-funded and has created 14,500 jobs. Video from Spectrum News 1 SoCal reporter Anna Albaryan

I'm increasingly heartbroken over the news. Good recap from Heather Cox Richardson, as usual.

More great insight from "Our World in Data."

Tentatively hopeful about this one. (Don't screw this up, Apple TV+!)

Truth! As a Christian, I’ve always found this troubling. There are many churches that are calling this out, but they don’t get attention. I spent 2 years searching for one. Many of them are dying because people aren’t aware of them. These churches need our support.

Professors please pull up a chair. I’ve been talking to my classes about what has been going on. I explained indirect costs to them. I talked to them about what a probationary employee is in the government. At the end of class they asked if we could talk about it more. (1/)

This is shockingly offensive even by Trump standards.

When, in 1889, Miss Sparrow was asked why she was a spinster... I couldn't help but grin. I'm a spinster, a very content one.

So far, this is the most hopeful thing I've read today.

The #1 reported reason people avoid doctor’s appointments is because they’re afraid of finding out they have a serious illness. If you have that fear, that’s normal and you’re not alone. Also remember, there is basically no serious illness that isn’t less serious if you catch it sooner.

What could go wrong?

Starting to get emails from students who had PhD offers fall through bc of *waves hands at everything*. I assume this is happening to others?

The University of Minnesota has a pretty extensive collection of free textbooks, mostly at the intro level. Great for dipping into subjects you want to know more about, as well as being a way to dramatically reduce the cost of education for students. open.umn.edu/opentextbook... #booksky

Yeeee-haw!! youtu.be/VwcKwGS7OSQ?...

I heard something in the news about changing names of places. Shall we all call New York Nieuw Amsterdam again?

If a fictional character had 13 children with 4 different women, named one of those kids X Æ A-Xii, made openly bigoted comments, and was the richest man on the planet clearly bent on world domination, they would rightly be considered the most cliched villain ever written. people.com/elon-musk-we...

Ah! That makes sense. In that case, I better post another cat picture.

Move fast and break things.

'Trump administration wants to un-fire nuclear safety workers but can’t figure out how to reach them' Yes that's a real headline. Share it far and wide. Historic levels of incompetence. www.nbcnews.com/politics/nat...

Vance visiting Dachau and then meeting w the AfD and urging German politicians to welcome them into government is a "gotta hear both sides" for the ages.

Yep.

Folks: I am NOT affiliated with the group that is using my name to support an economic boycott. Please spread this post, if you would.
