I'm a rabbi in Tampa Florida. I'm also the Official Rabbi™ of the Poscast and Too Much Joy. I drum and golf badly but enthusiastically. I pursue mindfulness and justice. I swear more than most people think a rabbi should.

My house? Crowded.

Just sent my status to HR at OPM.gov. Last week I: 1) Gave you up 2) let you down 3) ran around 4) deserted you 5) made you cry This week, my goals are to say goodbye, tell a lie, and hurt you. Respectfully, Jason Rosenberg

Mediocre drumming is an absolute joy.

America was given a choice between a lawless, amoral monster and a qualified, intelligent, joyful woman of color—and it chose the monster. We need to reckon with the reality of what that says about so many of us here. johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/america-ch...

Proud to join many respected colleagues as a signatory on this letter. There is so much that is complex and confusing about the situation in and around Israel, but this is not one of those things. Forcing an entire people to leave their homes and their homeland is deeply wrong.

My people call this a “concentration camp”

My desire to post mostly positive-leaning content is directly at odds with…reality?

Why does no one talk about how calm and composed Jayden Daniels is for a rookie? (The “no one talk” is snarky, but the kid is legit)

Sitting on my couch, love of my life and our dog nearby, a roaring fire, Soccer on the TV, clapping back against homophobes on FB. An evening well spent.

If she can do it, we can all do it.

Menachem Mendel of Kotzk teaches that freedom is found in rebelling against slavery. Not in release from slavery, but in *rebelling* against it. The act of fighting back is, in and of itself, freedom.

Our job today is the same as it’s always been — to try to make the world kinder, better, and holier than it currently is. Even if just a little bit.

I remain sad (and, still, a bit surprised) that "rule of law" turned out to be a less popular political agenda than "punish your perceived enemies however we can get away with it."

The disjunct between MLK Day and Inauguration Day is palpable

It’s always odd for me to realize how much emotions can be like weather. Sometimes happiness, or tension, or sadness, or joy just…show up. I can dress for them, so to speak, but I can’t change them. And, that’s ok.

TikTok is down for two days. Uproar! In two days, Democracy will be down for the immediate future. Uproar? Focus. #StandUpFightBack

Football. Beer. Pizza. My girl. Win.

It’s weird when the world is so awful, but your own bubble is so damn wonderful. It’s like living with constant emotional whiplash.

Excited for all of the “rule by EO is fascist” Republicans to show their intellectual consistency and oppose this move!

I’m not sure why we accept pre-trial confinement as acceptable, other than in cases of extreme risk of flight or harm to others.

I spend a decent amount of mental energy deciding which text thread to send my most recent funny, inappropriate meme.

Even as Republicans complain that DEI lowers standards and that putting more white men in charge will improve performance, here they are misspelling "military."

Anyone who teaches American civil rights and liberties will tell you America’s entire constitutional history has been the federal gov interceding in states because of states violating your civil rights and liberties.

Just being alive at the same time as her makes me dumber www.thedailybeast.com/marjorie-tay...

I’m in a meeting which has turned into a group wordsmithing effort (with a bunch of fellow rabbis, no less) and I’m about to go spider-monkey on someone.

Martin Luther King wasn’t asking people to do community service. He was asking folks to liberate oppressed peoples.

I’m in The Temple (ATL) and they have a coffee shop named “Java Nagilla” and I am being brutalized by my envy

[werner herzog voice] the looney tunes are an abomination. the little bald man shoots the duck in the face but he lives. the coyote is crushed by many anvils, and yet he continues. these unnatural beings cannot die - and without death, what is the value of life itself?

Anita Bryant isn't going to see your hurtful posts and jokes about her death but your friends who enjoy them will so that's what they call a win-win situation

Wait…am I…a woman? Cool.
