I think we agree that trans athletes both deserve to compete with their peers in accordance with their gender identity. Where think we disagree is whether a nuanced discussion about it is required.

Nuances in trans inclusion in sports. Which if we’re ceding ground for the sale of nuance allow people like Riley to come in and dominate the discussion

I’m trying to tie it back in to what you said about nuances in discussion here when I ask you if people like Riley Gaines would have a nuanced discussion about trans athletes in sports when they don’t seem particularly interested in even their right to exist

Do you think Riley Gaines, and people of her ilk want to have a nuanced discussion about trans rights in sports, or even their right to exist for that matter?

There are always going to be people who are more athletic than their peers. For a trans athlete to transition, meet the standards put out by their sports governing body, not even win said competition, and then have a fellow competitor feeling somehow slighted by their inclusion, is nonsensical.

Establishing arbitrary standards for who is feminine enough when cisgendered women athletes like Barbra Banda and Imane Khelif exist.
Lia Thomas had to undergo rigorous therapy and sit out a year while transitioning just to tie for fifth for any of us to know who Riley Gaines is.

To me, this falls under the alarm ringing that’s done about mediocre men just deciding to go play women’s sports and not the reality of trans athletes where they have hormonal benchmarks they have to meet before they can participate with other members of their gender.

I thought I was going to play in the NFL at age 16. That is until a Pouncey twin pancaked me at a camp and things became abundantly clear that I would not.
