For 15 years my sona was a domestic ("fancy") brown rat. In the past couple of years I've swapped to a domestic rat/transient orca hybrid, but rats have always appealed to me. Their shapes and their brains both! And they're like the Swiss army knife of adaptive survival.

I LOVE the distinctly mouse proportions here

Anyway FFXIV doesn't do that with any mechanics these days but fuck you Leviathan

It wasn't until I'd been playing for TWO YEARS that someone TOLD ME there was a sound cue.

There is a very early raid in FFXIV that has a mechanic like this and even now, several years into playing the game and at max level, I die instantly to this mechanic the first time it comes up in the fight. Every time.

Sorry for the blandness of this post, I'm just very pleased with his progress and also excruciatingly tired.

I have someplace I gotta go today and Corsair will be going with me, but I don't anticipate he's going to be a bouncing, pulling, spicy nightmare about it. At worst, he'll be a little overly-excited to start and then settle into it after 5-10 minutes. Which is great. I love that.

Which, for those who have followed Corsair since he was a baby... that's, uh, that's a big deal lmao. He's ALWAYS been a champ at long crating durations. That's a fact. But a year ago, he also would have burst out of his crate when I opened that door like the fucking Hulk had a baby with a tornado.

The significant thing, to me, is that I didn't NEED to do that. He wasn't going to be an uncontrollable energy machine if I didn't. If I needed another day, or two days? He'd probably be a bit spicy after two more days but he still wouldn't be an energy nuke.

Today I woke up feeling better, so after I showered, I unboxed my man and we went out into the living room where I made coffee and then produced a BRAND NEW copy of his favourite toy (his last one died a week ago) and we spent 40 minutes having a great time.
