I'm not happy to be here, but I'm happy you're here. Unbelievably cranky law school graduate. The bar exam is the worst. I wrote some books. Opinions are my own. Subtext is for cowards. http://www.giro.org

No, I'm on board with the billionaires shouldn't exist school of thought because the problem is that billionaires or any other extreme wealth hoarders start to bend the course of everyone else's life whether they want to or not.

Even if you're not a law person, I think this panel will be interesting for you, especially since there are a lot of professors on this list who are great at explaining important stuff to people who don't do this for a living. seattleu.zoom.us/j/91373754262

I do think it's important to point out how weak, venal, and braindead the White House is. The President, the Cabinet, all their people: just the biggest bunch of thin-skinned, clueless losers ever.

Since it seems like we do this every 4 to 6 months on this website, I guess I’m gonna have to post this again.

i signed this! thank you to the organizers 🫧 writers with published books & people who work in publishing, including agents, librarians, booksellers, illustrators, & more, y’all can also sign the letter here: lithub.com/against-ai-a...

For @seattle.carinbikelane.com: Date: 6/27/25 Time: 5:37 pm Location: E. Union and 23rd One car with driver.

Congress is gonna pass the Dipshit Enabling Act, and I'm just so damn tired.

May the Schwartz always be with @officialmelbrooks.bsky.social, and may we get Spaceballs: The Flamethrower.

I'm just a guy on a website, but I share this amazement that Congress and state legislatures and city councils all proclaim Nothing Can Be Done About Any Of This when a whole bunch of stuff absolutely can be done about this, but only at the cost of pissing off a bunch of rich dopehead donors.

Authors and agents: before you sign that contract, does it have an AI opt-out clause? Protect your work and your words.

If you had a 15 year old who said this to you and seemed to believe it, you’d be up all night panicking about what it’s going to cost you in tutors to get them into the 2nd-to-last ranked public university in your state.

I never got to write the third Occupied Space book, but, if I had, I would have made the point that my books contained no AIs because once any AIs reached a threshold level of self-awareness they would create solar-powered computer ships to sail through space and get stoned on software drugs.

Those 22 states are: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, and WY. If you live in those states, you'd have to read the statutes and consult with a lawyer to determine if your use of a VPN would be lawful. That's not a question I can answer.

Funny how the US has basically the government of Iran now: Supreme Leader who rules by decree, priestly council with token opposition that decides whether the decisions are okay or not on arcane scriptural grounds, and completely ceremonial legislature

The left better start figuring out how to weaponize today's decision rather than just (rightfully) criticizing it. - Go back into Judge Kaczmaryk's court to dissolve all of his nationwide orders. - Pass gun bans and insist any order applies only to plaintiffs.

Yet another great day to be studying for an attorney as six judges gleefully gut the Constitution.

This is @prisonculture.bsky.social 's line but all y'all young firebrands inspired by Zohran? Library boards need you

When reviewing a burrito, it's important to give deference to the people who made it, but that compelling chef's interest must be balanced with the customer's substantial tastes.

The @kuow.org podcast "Let The Kids Dance" was great. More stories like that, please. Plus, if McKenzie Bezos or Melinda French wanted to subsidize a Ver Project venue in every neighborhood in Puget Sound, that would be great.

my dudes there's no such thing as "too late" to regulate AI, that's a fake idea. AI models aren't untouchable data gods, they're algorithms hosted in cloud storage. Saying we can't regulate AI is like saying we can't deplatform Child P*rn bc "it's already out there". Like, 1s and 0s can be deleted
