I'm not happy to be here, but I'm happy you're here. Unbelievably cranky law school graduate. The bar exam is the worst. I wrote some books. Opinions are my own. Subtext is for cowards. http://www.giro.org

That and being able to mute a post forever: chef's kiss.

I don't know how most of your Bluesky experience has been, but I have enjoyed the ability to keep toolbags muted and blocked without ever knowing they existed at all.

It's like dropping a black hole into our solar system: everything gravitates toward it, destroying equilibrium.
Besides, do these dipshits actually do anything new to make things better? Camera glasses? Self-driving cars that crash into dummies? Tacky Venetian weddings and low orbital tourism?

At this point, I would say going to law school is a terrible, terrible idea if you're going to practice in a state that still insists on using the bar exam, but YMMV.
If you're going to practice in a state that allows some other route to licensure, go for it.

Yeah, I think that was something else I was pondering. "Why do the Minds bother with us at all?"

I think I got 20,000 words into right before I sold Windswept. Had the whole thing plotted out. Then we moved, and I never picked it back up.
Something for after the bar exam.

I started that draft eleven years ago, and I think my What If was, "What if a bunch of Silicon Valley tech bros B-Arked themselves away, became V'Ger-adjacent, and ran out of drugs and canapés?"
My time as a SF author has probably passed, seeing how reality has made everything parody.

I abandoned another book where humanity had gotten its act together, only to confront with a new existential threat: the offspring of spacefaring oligarchs who had abandoned humanity when they thought the guillotines were coming out but ran out of resources and expertise so they returned to plunder.

Why waste their time subjugating a bunch of ding-dongs like humans when they could float through eternity, blissed out of their matrix-math minds?

A kid's book that mocks and derides Alito would really get under his paper-thin skin.

Keep on burning that donor money. It'll keep the city's printers busy.
