Maybe it's early... But this took me out 🤣

ballsack sports is speaking the compelling truths that America needs to hear right now

The surest sign that Elon Musk is an absolute doorstop is that his "favorite sci-fi series" which he's straight up named spaceships after, is a left-anarchist utopia where a main character is considered odd for being neither trans nor bisexual.

Steven Spielberg has spent his entire career warning us about the dangers of dinosaurs and Nazis and I personally think we should have brought back the dinosaurs instead

I’d expect we’ll see a lot more of this.

Among the things that I am hilariously bad at is advertising the things that I'm doing. To that end, if you want to hear me yell about AI's capture of accessibility and some WILD shit my university system is doing with AI, here's a link to register.

"You're just saying what everyone knows/thinks" If you've ever been told this, and you've been told you're a good writer, or good with words, etc. YOU NEED TO KEEP SAYING WHAT EVERYONE KNOWS THINKS and let me tell you why.

Okay, I'll bite: who is this Drake, and how did he die?

Matt Maxey killed this. Here’s his business: deafinitelydope.org

just saying could kendrick lamar maybe have beef with the current administration for the greater good

“…Google's widely-used CAPTCHA system is primarily a mechanism for tracking user behavior and collecting data while providing little actual security against bots.”

Take our lessons from nature.

More “barging”, please. Also “storming.” We could use more “storming.”

Elon Musk bought the United States of America—the most powerful nation in the world—for $200M. For scale, Steve Ballmer bought the LA Clippers for $2B. The fucking Clippers.

The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. This effort's housed by a donation-funded nonprofit, not a branch of the US government. blog.archive.org/2024/05/08/e...

My kid's teacher gives out tickets for good behavior and achievement that the kids can trade for small rewards at the end of the week. This worked well for the first semester, but this semester one of the kids has opened an underground casino with tickets as the scrip.

I was going to celebrate my 53rd birthday by hyperventilating and worrying about employment but apparently @iammrsgeek.bsky.social is going to love and celebrate me instead. Always hard to accommodate a sudden change of plans.

We dealt with the "was it or wasn't it a white supremacist signal" last time with the OK sign (hint: it was) and squabbling over that went on for months and ended up with a lot of good people smeared for correctly saying that it was and had been since the 90s so maybe be cognizant of that today

Oh wait now I remember those ink lines. Are they here? Yes! @emilyscartoons.bsky.social did "My Life as a Background Slytherin" which I loved! www.tumblr.com/emilyscartoo...

Apologies for getting a bit political on main tonight. I think this cartoon sums it up.

How did it take almost a day for me to find out that there's a new OK Go video? www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOEU...

As God is my witness, I honestly thought Anita Bryant was already dead.

Ursula K. LeGuin: "American science fiction has assumed a permanent hierarchy of superiors and inferiors, with rich, ambitious, aggressive males at the top, then a great gap, and then at the bottom the poor, the uneducated, the faceless masses, and all the women."

This 2025 stop calling yourself a "content creator" You're an artist, graphic designer, a video editor, an entertainer, musician, a streamer, a cook, a craftsman, an animator, a storyteller, a writer, a painter, a woodworker, a tailor... You are not a faceless "content" machine.

The Skeleton Dance is public domain now.

I don't know what mood to attach to my New Year's wishes for everyone. Happiness, prosperity, justice, vengeance, puppies May we all find whatever it is we each need in 2025

In the movie adaptation of The Book of the New Sun, Severian will be played by a chicken.

“hole in the ozone layer” levels of erasure. my mom was a project manager who busted her ass for years to make sure IBM was ready for Y2K and completely succeeded, only for it to get turned into a late night joke. funny how the stories of mass collective action to avoid disaster rarely get told

what's the best game of all time for playing secondhand by reading posts about it, do you think?

Cartoon: Santa riding Godzilla :) Inspired by an AI image I saw, but didn't want to repost so I made my own :) Enjoy!

WHY MASTODON IS BETTER THAN BLUESKY: if you develop for the ActivityPub AI and it accidentally exposes Eugen's weird porn tastes, he can't ban you from the network in revenge yes Mastodon is like eating sawdust with milk for breakfast. But the point about *ACTUAL* decentralisation is 100% proven.
