Oh my bad

Something sort of grimly funny about these old judges who aren't savvy enough to know that the rules of the game have changed out from underneath them while they weren't looking.

Please pardon my language, but what the fuck (at the headline, not the OP)? Cyrus II, the founder of the Achaemenids (the first Persian Empire) gets *really good* press in Jewish scripture, because he allowed the exiles to return and rebuild the temple; they benefited from Achaemenid tolerance.

I would not actually interpret it as indicative of anything more than that Trump is watching explosions on FOX news right now.

It is extremely important to treat moral outrages as though they are morally outrageous. If you want a society where this sort of grotesque behavior, then you need to act like it is already is.

This like the worst possible time for literally everyone for the US to jump into this, so I assume that we're going to.

This summer's wackiest comedy is OVER THEIR HEADS! Hegseth! Kavanaugh! Poppin' brews, makin' news! One has a constitutional crisis! The other has a war in the Middle East! Neither has any business being anywhere near their jobs, but hey, beer don't buy iteself! Together they're…OVER THEIR HEADS!

Why I Love The Repair Shop Jay: What have we here? Guest: It's me nan's Victorian clockwork rooksplodger. Steven: Ooh, it's seen better days. I hope I'll be able to twiddle the flanges. Five minutes later, the sparkling rooksplodger is flying around the room. Steven: Yeah, I'm happy with that.

The first time I saw a cruise ship it really unsettled me, they're so huge, bigger than you'd ever imagine them to be. I think that's how I'd feel if I ever saw Reacher

Somebody is upset that his parade got upstaged and wants to reset the narrative by lighting fires in major cities. I think @jamellebouie.net has been correct to argue that, in fact, this tactic is hurting Trump, not helping him.

Trump says, "it's possible we could get involved" in the Iran-Israel conflict and also that he's 'open to Putin serving as a mediator in the conflict' (abcnews.go.com/Politics/tru...) and I can only describe my reaction in gif form.

Me: take hours to read a book You: have your super hot ChatGPT girlfriend download a million books, read them, then summarize them all to you in a barrage of lies that you can't even tell are lies because you don't read books; also you have the critical thinking skills of a shovel-struck donkey

There's an traditional heckle for shit marching that basically goes "Right! Right! Right right right!", but I never thought I'd see it genuinely in action...

Say what you will about the Boomers. They are SHOWING UP to this #NoKings protest in Los Feliz. #IndivisibleHollywood

A lot of dipshit intellectuals, from across the ideological spectrum, are going to meme themselves into being unironic monarchists in response to civic republicanism becoming a popular normie position.

They think you're stupid.

Extremely complex and over intellectualised way of saying "say what's actually happening with context and don't sanitise it"

Not every Republican wants to kill you, but none of them will ever do anything about the ones who do.

So, I watched bits of the parade and I guess my takeaway was, "confused looking 79 year-old unsatisfied by birthday party?" Like, he looked unhappy. Which, I mean, good.

I didn't get a picture of it, but a woman at the Los Feliz #NoKings protest had what may be my favorite sign of all time. It was just a piece of cardboard that read "Donald Fart."

We spent $45 million on a poorly attended sad-sack wanna-be dictator parade that rolled tanks through the streets of DC when he could have just gotten some fucking therapy.

I was in front of the federal building when this happened and while I admittedly wasn’t at the front of the line closest to the cops, I didn’t hear a dispersal order. We just saw people starting to run towards us followed by cops on horses and cops shooting munitions of some kind.

I wrote a thing! In part responding to Emma Ashford's "Four Explanatory Models" (also at FP) for Trump's foreign policy, I propose a fifth model: that the administration is best understood as heavily ideological along personalist, authoritarian far-right lines. foreignpolicy.com/2025/06/13/t...

Thank you all SO MUCH for your support. Our incredible Bargaining Committee worked into the night for us and reached a Tentative Agreement at around 5am! 🙏💪🥳🎉 As of now there will be NO STRIKE! Please continue enjoying all our work, knowing you all helped us get here! #unionstrong #voxunion #1u

ICYMI: I talk about a man who managed to embody almost all of the complexities of 20th century Chinese politics, despite spending more than half of the century under house arrest.

"What traditions?" "Oh, you know the ones."

The American people will rise up with one voice in the next election, and declaim proudly and true: "We demand a militarized universal deportation program that involves no violence and has no economic impact! And we want it NOW!"

"A critical element of that is that elected officials cannot back down. They must continue to act like Americans. If the President wants to rule by tackling senators or arresting governors, make him do it. Elected officials owe us that. We should accept it individually ourselves as well."

This is what you do when you think they'll be worth more in the future btw

Mike Johnson does not think that elected officials should be treated with a certain amount of respect. Noted.

If Vox does not give them this contract I am unleashing hell on this company

You, a peasant, go to the beach and make sand castles. Me, a man with humanitas, makes a sand Roman playing-card fort, with fossa et agger.

They are extremely clear about the fact that they consider themselves to be at war with you. They do not equivocate about it. It's their stated policy.

Mentality of whipped dogs.

Another video of Senator Padilla’s violent arrest at DHS Sec Noem’s press conference in LA. You can see him thrown to the ground by FBI agents and handcuffed. (video shared by Padilla’s staff with Elex Michaelson of Fox LA and posted on X)
