Being a historian, people ask me if I think the US is living through Germany 1933. I answer no, analogies are always imperfect but to me it feels more like Russia 1999: a blatant theft of state assets and liberals in a fugue state, refusing to believe the arc of progress is bending against them.

As a US state, Canada would be much more in line with the Democratic Party, ignoring the generations of hate Canadians would have for Republicans. It is inconceivable that Republicans would let Canada be a state in a US democracy. I know that is obvious but Trump might just be really dumb.

Federal marshals forced entry into the US African Development Foundation and escorted Musk staffers inside, after agency employees resisted their entry. Once inside, they changed the federal agency’s locks. Musk staffers were seen plugging in an external hard drive and going through everything.

Many historians have noticed the number of PhDs and MDs that were some of the Nazis’ biggest monsters but I think it is important to remember that the secret to creating a thug class is finding people who can only succeed through loyalty. Those Nazis with degrees were often lazy and/or unlikeable.
