Do you use a digital application for your To-Do Lists? If so, which one? How's it working out for you?

I've done multiple types of ethnography, but I remain interested in, and intrigued by, the ethnography of meetings, conferences, and trade fairs. Those feel to me, though, as though they are rapid ethnographic assessments (Sangaramoorthy and Kroeger), or rapid ethnographies (Vindrola-Padros)

I became a member of the editorial board of @jrlepp.bsky.social (the Journal of Environmental Policy and Planning) when I was an assistant professor (I'm a full professor now). Grateful and honored to be invited to remain on the board for so many years! www.tandfonline.com/journals/cjo...

Every day I write my way to a little more understanding than I had before. (And more questions)

I have considered the use of different writing technologies. But I haven't thought of the relationship between the nature of the thing you are trying to articular in writing and the technology you use to do get the ideas out of your head onto the page. Thoughts on how this applies to #AcWri?

“First, I do not sit down at my desk to put into verse something that is already clear in my mind. If it were clear in my mind, I should have no incentive or need to write about it. We do not write in order to be understood; we write in order to understand.” ― Cecil Day Lewis #WritingSky

“I write description in longhand because that's hardest for me and you're closer to the paper when you work by hand, but I use the typewriter for dialogue because people speak like a typewriter works.” ― Ernest Hemingway

“You can always edit a bad page. You can't edit a blank page.” ― Jodi Picoult

“Any person who keeps working is not a failure. They may not be great writers, but if they apply the old-fashioned virtues of hard, constant labour, they’ll eventually make some kind of career for themselves as writers.” — Ray Bradbury

“I'm writing a first draft and reminding myself that I'm simply shovelling sand into a box so that later I can build castles.” ― Shannon Hale

Timely advice and inspiration. Thanks @raulpachecovega.bsky.social

Folks heading to Chicago for #ISA2025, here are my commitments (except for editorial board meetings, receptions, and committee meetings, which for some reason don't appear in the program in such an easy way as to be able to copy-and-paste). Saturday March 1st, climate change workshop:

Great explainer. "Michigan estimates that the proposed change in NIH funding would create a $181 million annual hole in its budget." <-- huge number and at $2.46 in economic activity for every $1 of funding, up to a $4.428 million loss, in Michigan alone. www.nih.gov/about-nih/wh...

I hate that I find LinkedIn more and more useful for connecting with fellow researchers every day I use it. Obviously, I've set filters for all the sp4m emails that they send every three seconds, but overall, it's been a great platform.
