The lengthy period from initial incident to notification underscores ongoing challenges in breach response agility. A stark reminder of ransomware's reach and the critical PII at risk. Stay vigilant. Source Links: social.cyware.com/category/bre... & www.comparitech.com/news/mclean-...

This is where on-premises solutions can be the greener choice. By investing in your own server, you control the hardware lifecycle. You can choose to repair, upgrade components, and extend the life of your equipment for 5, 7, or even 10 years, drastically reducing your e-waste footprint.

The common wisdom is that large-scale cloud data centres are the most efficient choice. But that's not the whole story. Constant hardware upgrade cycles at these massive facilities contribute significantly to global e-waste. Your subscription fee often helps fund a "rip and replace" model.

So what's the best choice for you? Consider your requirements: Do you want high levels of customization or control over your infrastructure and work flows? Are you willing to invest in upfront costs for long-term savings? Can you afford the ongoing monthly fees associated with cloud services?

Cloud Solutions: Cloud-based solutions are often quicker to deploy and require minimal setup. But, they come with ongoing monthly costs for storage, bandwidth, and management. When using cloud services, you're just renting space on someone else's server, meaning you must rely on their security.

On-Premises: While investing in on-premises infrastructure requires a significant upfront purchase price, it offers long-term cost savings through reduced maintenance needs. With your data stored locally, you'll have more control over security and can avoid monthly subscription fees.

We've been having great success with Fedora 41! Between Steam and Lutris, almost everything installed easily and works great. Of course Arch is a great choice too, thanks to Steam's support. And soon we maybe seeing SteamOS coming to more hardware if the rumours are to be believed.

You forgot to drop it in the disintegrating wreck of the Titanic. (Best to make sure the safe is waterproof too)
