Her calling Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass socialists would be funny if she wasn't backing it up with jackboots

"We would fight to defend this particular marginalized group but ... the polls! Whaddya gonna do?"
Any time you see this one trotted out, you know you're listening to someone who shares the right's aversion to the group in question but doesn't want to admit it, even to themselves.

Whereas with men, he’s either in a cult, doing some of the scariest emotional abuse in the world, or both.
At best, he’s a very delulu boy in a cult.

Whereas with “I can fix him”, the tone and framing usually agree with her. There’s a whole thing where fixing him is implied to be a victory and succeeding at femininity
comment in response to
post
Its manipulativeness is usually more acknowledged by the framing when you see it. Like, the story’s tone and frame will mostly not agree with him (sorry to use het assumptions, but it’s a very het romance trope) that she needs fixing.

Mister peanut butter from bojack horseman and Jay inslee are more alike than you think
comment in response to

And if we’re doing former govs of the NW…
Inslee is like the golden retriever lite himbo jock, and brown is a lateral move from kotek, maybe slightly better.

adding this to my reading list. I'm already seeing echoes of jarrett walker's argument re: electrified transit

I'm thinking of all the times we've had to get forestry permits for projects at my work even for projects in the UGA. (I will insist that people forget how big the state set the UGAs in the 90s, but that's another thread)

and like, I want to compare the trees saved/being removed in seattle to those that are being removed in like sultan
comment in response to

I'm also thinking on that tirade cathy moore went on about how public trees were inferior to private trees
comment in response to
post
yeah, and this shows the bad faith in parts of the tree groups. the goal isn't necessarily to have more trees, it's to stop development, with having more trees in the immediate area as the excuse.
