Just MAGA America?! Don't we all "honour" folk who have actually achieved something with their talents (yes, famous prostitues too!) as opposed to being born to it?

Really? No offence but that is very shortsighted. Every year in Germany there are attacks on Xmas markets, there is massive unrest. If the government is calling anyone who complains racists, and the far-right is offering to do something about it. Who do you think the people voted for?
comment in response to post
How is that working out? All over the world the far-right and populists are gaining ground because people feel their concerns are not being listened to and dismissed as racists.

As I said, that's the worrying bit, but if we're not engaging with these issues and simply pass them off as nasty, the people feel their concerns aren't being heard and will find a "home" with the far-right, and creeping authoritarianism.

I'm not sure I read that the same way Peter. It read it as those "who commited a crime or failed to integrate". Whilst the 2nd part of that is disturbing, Germany has suffered from numerous attacks from Islamists, and these discussions must be heard and engaged with.

Jeez, how did we go from housing homeless people to giving men in dresses the rights to invade safe female spaces?

Okay, only "AI" can come up with that gibberish! 🤣

1. Any free country has a right to join whatever legal organisation or enter into any treaty they feel is in their interest. 2. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is down to Putin's empire building agenda.

Now that is embarrassing!

If it's dross as you say, there wouldn't be much point in looking through it! 😜 (I did, and you're right… mind you, I spent most of the early part of the day cooking)

Bottas and Piastri also got 10 second penalties on lap 1. It wasn't a racing incident, Max was being too aggressive, and not for the first time. Most independent commentators concur.
comment in response to post
The drivers themselves requested harsher penalties for causing a collision. The feeling was some drivers were flouting the rules as 5 seconds could be reclaimed in track, and not a strong enough deterrent.

Thanks, totally stealing it!

Too late, I saw willies in my first week here (I most certainly wasn't looking), but at least over here, you have the option of controlling what you see in your settings.

Good! We need varying opinions and the ability to disagree respectfully!

And that was where this discussion started. Investing in local initiatives (in tandem with enforcement) to minimise people's reasons for leaving in the first place.

Are we also to fling the doors open to everyone in China, North Korea, Cuba and every other states that doesn't have a functioning democracy?

Majority of people coming from Vietnam are economic migrants. "Many Vietnamese migrants have cited failing businesses and debts at home for their decision to seek work in the UK." www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The deals they referenced were; EU paid Tunisia €105 million (£88m) in 2023 to boost border security and train up its coastguard. Italy supplied the country with patrol vessels and gave its government another €100 million to support small companies and invest in education and renewable energy.
comment in response to post
I thought you said you read up on this? The Times Headline is a tad deceptive. The deal they actual reference has nothing to do with Albania.

Sorry but that looks foul! Neapolitan and NYC look far more palatable, but I might be biased being European!
