I know it's hard to hold onto that hope. *hug* I know life shifting in the ways we want it to isn't a guarantee. But it's a possibility. So I hope it works out eventually. đź’ś

I just hope that at some point you'll be able to get back to something that clearly means so much to you. đź’ś

Kudos for sticking to it despite all the others who don’t though. 💜

I don’t have an aranet, but I do have a monitor that seems to be pretty reliable. :) Tanks for thinking of me!

I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to have to give up in order to be able to do this (I have severe ME, I can’t just do more without something else having to give) and I can’t stop crying.
Seriously what do I give up? Cooking? Bathing? Laundry? The last of my few connections to humanity?

Everyone is talking about trans issues today. No one is talking about the cruelty and harm enacted on disabled people. If you’re trans AND disabled, today is a hell of a day.

So we have to hoop jump (which for people like me, it WILL irreparably harm our health) just so the Alberta government can take away the paltry amount the federal government deigned to allocate for those who qualify. And no one is talking about it except disabled people.

If people think that disabled lives other than their own are an acceptable sacrifice for the theoretical role a social media platform plays in democracy, and that what apps you use is more important than keeping your fellow citizens alive, democracy is long gone.

Great if you were able to, but I am fully against a ban. There may be life after Twitter for you, but that’s not going to be universal. Some people are in far more precarious situations. And we shouldn’t be throwing them under the bus. Boycott if you want. A ban would be cruelty.

I’m all for boycotting X, but banning it would cut off a huge portion of disabled people from their community and mutual aid that’s keeping them alive. Not everyone can migrate here for a variety of reasons (or we can’t post openly because we can’t lock our accounts and gov keeps tabs on socials).

My kingdom for an actual progressive political party that doesn’t just claim to care about people.

Will you finally address what they’re doing to AISH, both proposed changes and the massive cuts in this budget? We need you to fight for us just as much as Albertans who can work.

Mutual Aid/direct giving to those living in legislated poverty on disability is always a good idea to get involved in. If you could actually give that money back to the government I can guarantee it wouldn’t go to those who actually need it sadly.

No kidding eh? I’ll have to remember that’s a thing for future reference. Quote detaching.

The gall of them saying “I was there” … like YOU weren’t??? I’m sorry you still have to deal with this stuff.

If you are serious about supporting your neighbors and the vulnerable members of your community, you will need to ask them about their unmet needs and take them seriously when they tell you what they are.
You will need to learn not to say sentences starting with "Well can't you just...?"

If you are serious about supporting your neighbors and the vulnerable members of your community, you will also need to go out of your way to address inconvenient needs that have pushed those people out of community in the past.
This includes requiring masking and air cleaners.

If you are serious about supporting your neighbors and the vulnerable members of your community, this absolutely and by definition means intentionally acknowledging and addressing some basic inclinations, like the one that says to abandon people who aren't always able to be there when you want them.

This is not something that can be put on the people who have been abandoned and isolated to correct.
It cannot be made their responsibility to connect or re-connect with those who previously decided it was, for one reason or another, easier not to try.

The despair is real. I'm sorry this world isn't what it should be. For you. For the kids. For everyone. đź’śđź’śđź’ś I can promise you though that your actions, however small you feel they are, make a difference. Especially when they want you to feel otherwise. Any action is always better than resignation.

Through. With any luck maybe I’ll wind up in a dimension that’s a little less awful. Worth a shot.

Thank you again to everyone. And if I’m not super responsive, please don’t take offence.
And while it would normally be comforting, for now I’d like to ask folks to refrain from sending me cute pet/animal pics. I am so happy you have them. But my heart can’t take it right now.

I will be looking into donating the food and supplies of hers that are left, when I’m able, but for now I’m trying to rest. Suffice to say the last week or so was rough. My body is not happy. And resting will need to be my top priority for a while.

I want to thank everyone who helped me take care of her, ever, but especially in the last few years. Some of you absolutely made sure she was fed and cared for and that we both got through some really hard times. Thank you.
