I've been saying it forever, China is HIGHLY unlikely to attempt overt invasions, they're playing for the economic win. Absent some sort of flashpoint that forces their hand, the Chinese military doesn't want smoke with the US military. Xi Jingping is evil, but he's not stupid or insane.
