Oh I don't disagree, but I think it is important to clarify this

You do realize you're essentially saying these men are incapable of understanding this "obvious" dynamic

Oh absolutely! That goes for many potential flame war topics. At best, the team can decide to review past decisions periodically (i.e. triggered by changes to standards or best practices) and refactor accordingly

I always considered using either interfaces or types a personal preference, not an objective truth

Obviously, we're not living in '20s Germany, but there is still truth to the famous poem of Martin Niemoller.
At what point do moderates need to speak up?

Maybe they even worked in places where associating with socialists or communists would cost them their job. They have a family to provide, so the moderates decide to stay quiet. They also don't feel comfortable going to the socialist beer hall as it might negativity impact their career

After a while, the nazis drive out the communists, socialists, transgenders and finally the jews from the beer hall.
At what point should the moderates have said that maybe it is time to find a new bar to hang out? Or should they have just stayed there because they liked the beer and the company?

Right. So please entertain me in this analogy. In the '20s, moderate Germans would go aan drink a beer in a beer hall in Munich. At some point, the beer hall becomes a place of nazi gatherings. The moderates aren't nazi, they are centrist socialists. They see the flaws of the Weimar republic

This is a really funny quiz for a European to take. Like @rich-harris.dev I'm also an outsider left according to this quiz, although I'm sure most Americans would consider me a far-left liberal socialist extremist

Anyway, it sounds like you're saying "I like the nazi bar better because everyone here is being smug about not going to the nazi bar"... which, I guess might not be the POV that will get you much applause

I've followed you for some time on X, and you can't seriously say that you haven't had similar interactions over there? Part of the fun of following your account is because of you fighting with trolls

Have you tried convincing others to leave as well? You can actually say "hey, this is a great convo, let's continue this on bsky"
You make it sound like you have no agency over your peers

This thread is funny because from a Dutch perspective, the US leftist would be considered center-right. Y'all are arguing about a subjective scale.
Oh, and @adamrackis.bsky.social, you can be anti-capitalist without being a communist. There are mixed types in which markets are regulated

I'm not sure how a war between Europe and the US would look like. The logistics of crossing the Atlantic (for both sides) are extremely daunting. The only reason it worked in WW2 was because of the UK. Otherwise the invasion would have been nearly impossible

The law is not the issue. Companies hording data and using dark patterns are the problem

Not just the ease at which Elon Musk can sweep in and take of the OPM, but also the sheer amount of data he has access to should give everyone pause.
Once this chapter has concluded, we need to have a serious conversation about ease-of-use versus privacy. GDPR exists for a reason. #neveragainisnow
