This is what I was talking about earlier today @rethinkintel.bsky.social

Pardon Tracker will soon publish an investigative report on the statements, activities, and networks of the pardoned Capitol Rioters. This independent investigative journalism and data visualization project is not possible without your support — Donate here:

BREAKING NEWS: A high level source at the DOD has informed me that the Trump Administration authorized deployment of Signal onto government phones last month and it is a primary means of communicating with the White House. Read my exclusive story: open.substack.com/pub/fpwellma...

Ut oh. Tulsi was overseas during the Signal chat too. 👀 She refuses to answer whether she was using her own phone or not.

This classic shallow argument runs cover for real ways that the response to the Covid pandemic has been all out class warfare, and is the perfect example of lazy, superficial “class analysis” that ignores the basic material conditions which actually define class under capitalism.

I'll be speaking with @pgeddington.com and Michael Fox about my book, "Policing White Supremacy," on Wednesday, March 26 at 1pm at the Cato Institute in D.C. @cato.org Join us for a lively discussion! Register here: www.cato.org/events/polic...

Along with all of the other things that this is, it is also the direct & inevitable consequence of the failure to put a lot more senior executive branch officials in jail for a very long time for Watergate, Iran-Contra, torture, & all of the other things in the last 50 years.

I wrote about why this is. part of it is that the system advantages white voters. part of it is that we live in a white supremacist society where everyone feels white voters are the only real voters. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/why-do-ds-...

The Justice Department is slashing its public corruption unit—because the easiest way to hide corruption is to stop looking for it. 📌 Prosecutors have been told they will be asked to take new assignments in the department and as few as five lawyers may remain in the unit.

Looking like the Trump Admin is planning to invoke the Alien Enemies Act any day now to speed up detention and removal ops. My colleague @ebrightyon.bsky.social is a leading expert on this wartime authority—and its serious risk of abuse. Follow her for critical insight. Her explainer is below 👇

Remember Jennifer Kerkhoff, the former DC US Attorney who tried to lock up #J20 protesters mass arrested at Trump's inauguration for 80+ years? She goes by Jennifer Kerkhoff Muyskens now and her ethics trial at the DC Bar starts today - she could get disbarred: www.youtube.com/@d.c.bprhear...

If the system isn’t yet completely corrupted, this will get yeeted from court at escape velocity once it gets in front of a judge, but the desired chilling effect has already been achieved. Who wants to risk getting abducted to a detention center 1,000 miles away for God knows how long?

SCOOP—Emails obtained by @zeteo.com show Mahmoud Khalil reached out for help from the Columbia administration *one day before* ICE detained him. He said he couldn't sleep from threats he was receiving. He even wrote that he feared ICE "might come to my home."

Can't really understate how insidious and deliberate it is that the Trump administration has gone after transgender people and Palestine supporters in the first six weeks. It's Fascism 101 to target the most vulnerable groups with the least defenders first.

ICYMI: Trump has dropped investigations and enforcement actions against 89 lawbreaking corporations, including: -42 cases at the CFPB -15 cases at the DOJ -6 cases at the EEOC -7 crypto cases at the SEC It's a new golden age for corporate criminals.

For the rest of my life, I will never understand how a country full of people busting their asses, working paycheck to paycheck, allow the fucking richest guy on Earth to call them "parasites" while calling the Social Security we contributed to our entire lives "a Ponzi scheme." Un-fucking-real.

Interracial marriage did not cross 50% approval in the US until 1996, when I was 30 years old. Good political messaging drives opinion, it doesn't follow it.

This would have a huge negative economic impact, on top of the insulting symbolism of such a move. www.kosu.org/local-news/2...

Unfortunately a lot shit in the U.S. is in fact precedented.

Just under a month away. Join us in person in DC if you can or online for a discussion about the impact of racism in policing. Featuring yours truly with author @rethinkintel.bsky.social and my colleague @foxmike90.bsky.social www.cato.org/events/polic...

Trump campaigned on delivering economic relief to working Americans, but his plan to kill the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau opens the door to unchecked financial abuse.

Everyone should read Policing White Supremacy by Mike German. This is a scare tactic.

Morning Briefing: White Supremacist groups have targeted communities with propaganda and recruitment campaigns in towns from Ohio to Mississippi to Montana.

📌I was the managing editor at Stars and Stripes and can tell you that Pete Hegseth is the first SecDef I am aware of to be openly booed by military families on a military base. 📌This is the most significant pushback I have seen to this administration's racist, hostile initiatives.

I’m back from my Moss Landing reporting trip and digging into this today before I start covering more protests. Crazy world in which this is my palette cleanse!

Reading "Policing White Supremacy: The Enemy Within" by Mike German @rethinkintel.bsky.social and wondered just how many far-right groups there are. Thanks to the @splcenter.org for providing the disturbing answer. www.splcenter.org/hate-map/

When protestors uttered the slogan “defund the police” the national media had a massive freak out. But now that Trump wants to actually gut the FBI and (it would seem) illegally fire 1000s of people who work there, the same media sees it as a curiosity, a dull bureaucratic matter.

🚨MAJOR UPDATES🚨 🧵The Capitol Riot Map is an interactive visualization of the 1,500+ individuals involved in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Significant updates coming soon, and a new interactive feature: Pardon Tracker. Details on updates, and how you can support this project below👇

NEW: Sources tell my office that Treasury Secretary Bessent has granted DOGE *full* access to this system. Social Security and Medicare benefits, grants, payments to government contractors, including those that compete directly with Musk's own companies. All of it.

As Trump goes after immigrants in this country--a majority of whom are law abiding, tax paying members of society--he ignores, even panders to the very real threat of white supremacist & far right violence. @brennancenter.bsky.social @rethinkintel.bsky.social ethnicmediaservices.org/immigration-...

These are important wording choices. When you describe lawbreaking this way, you’re communicating to the reader that sure, maybe it’s TECHNICALLY illegal, but it can’t REALLY be that important. Nobody describes street criminals as “unbound by legal niceties.”

WTF

I've collected accounts from trans folks inside US prisons facing Trump's brutal crackdown: trans women rounded up + placed in solitary before transfer to men's prisons; canceled medical appointments + loss of vital healthcare; vicious taunting "You're going to be a man," one guard told trans women

President Trump has already made clear his interest in using the DOJ to go after his political opponents. But if DOJ or FBI staff bow to pressure and engage in political prosecutions, they risk violating the Constitution, the Hatch Act and the Civil Service Reform Act.

Attending this webinar right now - I am so glad the @brennancenter.bsky.social sees historical legacies as an important topic to cover. Thank you to @rethinkintel.bsky.social for his discussion.

Republicans using their "mandate" to engage in wildly inflationary policy interventions in service of a starkly racist and xenophobic ideology confirms it was never actually about the "economy, stupid."

Late last night Trump fired 12+ inspectors general. Exact number unknown. It’s also not clear which ones, but reporting suggests homeland security’s IG Cuffari may have kept his job. 1/2 www.nytimes.com/2025/01/24/u...

Doing Nazi gestures and using their imagery as "trolling" for fun isn't a quirky alternative to being a white supremacist or Neo-Nazi. It *is* being a white supremacist or Neo-Nazi. That's what those groups do. Exactly that.

You guys need to see this and take it in… Wise words from someone who is a target. And he’s been listening.
