“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.” Diary of Anne Frank January 13, 1943

Will be 😞

“Trump says” May become an often used phrase, I seriously doubt that “Trump does” May be a phrase considerably less used !

BBC News, "Rachel Reeves will need to cut spending or hike taxes even after gov borrowing reached a 17 year high" Tim Farron, "Labour isn't responsible for international stuff, but it is responsible for a lack of growth.. The elephant in room, the £27 billion lost in revenue because of Brexit"

Gold radio 2pm ‘news’ today , featured Farage spouting his garbage, the only political view expressed on that news bulletin. Why ? Who pushes these views and if the time is purchased surely this shouldn’t be allowed?

Should be in every newsagents window.

This needs to be taken very seriously. All donations that originate from abroad, no matter who is the final donor, should be banned. Only UK citizens should be allowed to donate to British political organisations

Oh god. The inevitable Daily Mail tantrum at a Labour govt edging towards a slightly less ruinous relationship with our own continent. What do these idiotic nationalists want? Permanent hostility? Endless cost and loss? ‘Betraying’ Brexit is an act of patriotic necessity now, you howling clowns.

‘We’re getting poorer’ says Nigel Farage In other news the Brexit he championed is on course to cut UK trade by a staggering 15% - a huge reduction in the potential economic performance of the country at a time when every penny counts youtu.be/jvo1JM6xZqQ?...

The problem is not the EU but rather the last Gov’t negotiated the first trade deal in history which actually involved walling the country off from a trading bloc made up of its nearest neighbours - making it harder both to sell your stuff & buy their stuff. Some might call that economic lunacy

“It has never looked more exposed to be Brexit Britain adrift somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic as the waves get larger and choppier” www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Brexit ‘delivered the opposite of what it promised’, Angela Rayner admits Hopefully we can now begin an honest & open discussion about the catastrophic impact Brexit has inflicted on the country’s economy www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/ang...

Nigel Farage isn't the answer to our problems, Britain. He is the cause of them. Until my country can work that very simple puzzle out we are doomed. #bbcqt

Brexit has chopped around a sixth off food exports to the EU, to the tune of £3 billion less a year. That has consequences in the form of lost jobs, failing firms, and lower tax revenue. All because companies face mountains of paperwork where flat plains used to be. news.sky.com/story/mind-b...

"The country needs conviction politicians, not politicians with convictions," says Kemi Badenoch, who has previously admitted to hacking and vandalising a Labour MP's website, which was an offence carrying a sentence of up to five years in prison #pmqs

This week's @theneweuropean.bsky.social cover

UK economic policy.

Boris Johnson is still repeating his completely untrue claim that “Brexit saved lives” with the vaccine rollout - and he’s now doing it completely unchallenged. How many times do I have to correct this boll**** youtu.be/7sMlWPRv86c?...

Well, you know , “fighting the elites” !

The Bank of England governor says Brexit has undermined the UK economy. Is the Government now going to listen? Hold onto your seats.. youtu.be/jvo1JM6xZqQ?...

“Over the longer term the OBR say economic growth will be boosted by 1.4%. That’s really positive” says Chancellor OBR also say Brexit will reduce the UK’s potential GDP by 4% in the long run by lowering the trade intensity of the economy? Isn’t that important? youtu.be/0Wn4gusyHvk?...

Excellent by @rafaelbehr.bsky.social . Telling the truth is always a good place to start, even if only to oneself. Years ago, I foresaw Brexit leaving UK floundering and stranded in mid-Atlantic. Another metaphor could be that we risk the splits, trying simultaneously to ride both US and EU horses.
