Sorry, I misspoke. She actually tied with a trans woman for 5th place.

Here's to hoping :)

Yeah, it was in that tea party era before it became glaringly obvious that they were about some wickedness. It's easy to get caught in the grip of ideas like that when your world view stays small, but that's what we're here for.

Getting a bag is the only reason folks jump on the grift. Honestly it's a little sad in my mind. You make a mistake, acting out of fear or confusion. Decent folks offer to hold you accountable. MAGA gremlins offer you a check. These folks don't have real values save for the paycheck.

The hatemonger grift has to be a billion dollar industry by now.

A failed swimmer who lost to a trans woman and made it her whole personality.

Professional troll. I saw someone accusing Simone of "throwing away her legacy". Riley literally quit being an athlete to become a paid troll.

Fun tidbit for folks fellow trans folks. As I type this, Simones post has over 150k likes as opposed to Riley's 50kish. Even in a space as reactionary and cruel as x, folks overwhelmingly are fed up with this noise. The tide will turn. Stay brave and stick close to your friends 💜

Maybe two different kind of bears, like a black bear and a grizzly bear. Raccoons are bears too, factor that in somehow.

Sure :)

This is satirical, right?

I miss the beach. I love the Midwest but it's so far from the ocean -_-

Gauntlet. I don't have any particular memories that stick out, I just liked the archer. Pew pew!

It's utterly absurd that these folks think TERF ideology is not the dominant ideology. How estranged from reality can someone possibly be?

Hmm skelingtons you say

No problem 💜 Also...I'm sure this goes without saying, but coming out isn't going to wipe out all misery. In some very important ways, the world will open up to you, in other ways it'll get smaller. Life as an out trans person isn't necessarily bad of course, but it can be challenging. Be gentle 💜

People's perceptions are always shifting. Becoming cognizant of that is part of the magic of being trans.

If it's any consolation, lots of us have done it before and we're all still hilarious

Not the DNC per se, but other groups. Planned Parenthood, churches, etc. It's a gift to use our experience to illuminate things for others, but we shouldn't feel pressured to do so if it's not our cup of tea. Folks can ask some absolutely ridiculous questions...

The truly wise do not post, merely read.

Congratulations! Be extra gentle with yourself. FFS is a serious trial.

Oooooooooooooooo Stealing

Absolutely. Our leaders need to trust their constituents. You can run a populist campaign sans AIPAC money. You can call Israel out and deny its wrath and still win. Any "victory" that can't turn the heat down on Netanyahu is a hollow victory.

Sorry I misspoke. Not the problem, one of the problems. Feel free to remind our interlocutors what other troubles they perpetuate by being out of touch.
comment in response to post
The problem with enlightened centrism is that it believes itself pure because it is untainted with the burden of actual ideas. I struggle to imagine y'all believe in much of anything other than business as usual, the same business acidifying oceans and trapping working people in cycles of poverty.

Calling X conservative feels wild. My papaw was conservative. X is downright reactionary.

Identity politics is politics, but the term has become poisoned in the mind of some folks. Gotta find ways to speak to folks who may have their definitions contorted.
comment in response to post
Absolutely. I tend to think the better way to frame this to layfolks is that politics are personal. Can't afford groceries? That's personal, that's politics. Cops harass a trans person for using the bathroom? That's a diminisment of agency/personal power, thereby it is political.

It's giving Cyberpunk 2077 NPC. Love it. Stay a lil freaky 💕

I know you'd prefer to keep it simple but we need to make room for complexity. Identity politics should not be the only political lens we use, but neither should we discard it for its occasionally uncomfortable implications.
comment in response to post
Per your comment and this definition, how can we uplift marginalized people if we aren't able to speak of them without upsetting folks who are sensitive to identity politics?
comment in response to post
Per Wikipedias - Identity politics is politics based on a particular identity, such as ethnicity, race, nationality, religion, denomination, gender, sexual orientation, social background, political affiliation, caste, age, education, disability, opinion, intelligence, and social class.

Sydney, but I wouldn't be surprised if Beercade has similar bits

Time will tell, but it's a good switch up at the very least.

Can you explain what you mean by identity politics?

Yeah, she came out of left field at the 11th hour with some anti-trans flyers. She knew it wasn't going her way. Probably could have dropped out and preserved her dignity at least.
